Wolves that can take human form and powerful creatures for anyone who threatens them. They weren't always roaming around, but they appeared several thousand years ago.
For a long time, they lived in the shadows, keeping a safe distance from humans, so much that they forgot that, at the origin of their existence there was a legend, the kindness of a goddess, and unwavering loyalty and love between two kinds that had yet every reason to be wary of each other.
Because the reason why the wolves from Bloodhood territory have been offered human souls by the Moon Goddess was the protection of the humans from the Blue Moon tribe they ensured with their own lives.
This clan of wizards and witches under Moon Goddess' blessing was once saved from an attack of enemies by the wolves from Bloodhood pack. As a reward for their bravery, those wolves received from the Goddess, human souls and an aura* allowing their bodies to undergo transformations from their original wolf form to a human form.
From then on, the friendship and loyalty between the werewolves from Bloodhood and the wizards from the Blue Moon tribe grew steadily. It even grew into something stronger when the daughter of Blue Moon's leader fell in love with the alpha's son.
Once again, the Moon Goddess could only rejoice to see the bonds between her proteges deepen. Although she tested them to ensure the purity of their feelings, the Goddess rewarded their bond by granting Blue Moon wizards the special ability to transform into wolves, earning them the name 'Skinwalkers'. Unfortunately, jealousy began to gnaw at the hearts of other wizarding clans who found dangerous and threatening how powerful the now inseparable pack and tribe were.
The irreparable was committed when the daughter of the alpha and the Luna was kidnapped and tortured to reveal the secrets of her clan's powers.
However, something unexpected happened. The executioners of the alpha's daughter were killed by an opportunistic wizard who had in mind an even more sinister and dangerous plot than to discover the secrets of their transformation. He caught the young witch in a trap and never let her go.
Tired of the repeated attacks on their clan and broken by the loss they had never recovered from, the pack and the tribe parted ways. Their common past became after a few generations nothing more than a bedtime story, and after many centuries it turned into a legend. The werewolves forgot everything about Blue Moon and the origins of their existence.
For his part, for more than four thousand years, the immortal sorcerer who went by the name of Black hid in the shadows with the witch from the Blue Moon tribe. When he finally took action, the Moon Goddess awakened two of her children who had enough strength and courage to deal with him and allowed the werewolves from Bloodhood and all other packs to remember their origins.
The battle was intense and the losses were numeral, but that wasn't the most important point. The real matter was that the world after the clash between The Dark Wizard and the Fated mates Eden and Glen, was never the same again.
"Is there any new information? Any leads maybe?" Eden Bloodhood asked, making eye contact with the werewolf waiting for them at the threshold of a cave.
They were late. As Bloodhood's Luna and Alpha was pretty embarrassing but luckily it was only a few minutes delay. The low-rank dominant bowed slightly in respect to greet the omega before turning to Glen who was walking just a few steps behind. He showed his respect to the alpha the same way but froze after he lifted his head. A slight blush spread on his cheeks and he looked away from the purplish mark poorly hidden by the alpha's long black hair. After regaining his composure, the werewolf followed Eden.
"T-The for-former a-alpha is here to re-report."
"Dad?" Eden asked as he immediately scanned the room.
Several pack leaders were gathered inside but there were also Skinwalkers, Servants of Talamh, civilians, and wizards from other clans. The omega quickly spotted his father who was focused on his conversation with William Benedict. The civilian was about to take over as head of the WIA after the current director announced his retirement at the end of the year.
The man and the werewolf who were focused on their exchange did not hear the two leaders walk over to them. Silver Bloodhood frowned as he listened to the civilian's words. The werewolf, whose face was more affected by time as the year passed, was staring at the place that the civilian was pointing at him on a map displayed on a tablet's screen. A familiar scent tickled his nostrils and the alpha looked up causing his hair which had now several grey strands, to slightly move. A smile bloomed on his face as he met his son's gaze and the dominant rose from his seat.
"It's been a while, Son." He was about to bow but Eden locked him in a warm embrace.
The alpha smiled and closed his arms to answer his son's affectionate gesture before nodding his head to greet Glen who was smiling as he watched them.
"Oh my!" whispered a voice from nearby and the long black-haired alpha snapped out of his thoughts.
Glen turned to the voice's owner. He then met a cerulean blue gaze surrounded by barely visible wrinkles and a face that reminded him of that of his omega. Snow Bloodhood's hand fixed her son-in-law's collar to hide the purplish mark on his neck before sending him a link.
[I'm glad that the honeymoon is still not over after so many years together but it's a formal meeting. Let's avoid any rumors about you two being late because of your bedroom activities. Okay?]
Her teasing expression was obvious enough to let the alpha know she was joking, but that didn't stop Glen from blushing intensely. The dominant looked away as he clapped a hand to his neck muttering a thank you but another whisper just next to his ear startled him.
"Too late! I think everybody knows by now why we have all been waiting for your guys. How shameless!" Krasny Licht, the leader of Red Orbs pack, said with a snicker as his mate, Winnie, standing right next to him barely suppressed a chuckle.
Another laugh caught Glen's attention and he noticed Snow Bloodhood's reaction to the comment. The female omega was hiding her snicker behind her hand to prevent people from catching her teasing her son-in-law. Embarrassed, Glen raised his head with an affected look and moved forward to join his seat. Once in his place, the leader of Bloodhood cleared his throat to get everyone's attention.
"Thank you for being here today and for waiting despite the delay. Now that we are all together, we can finally start this council and our discussions regarding the wildlands."
A loud sigh escaped Glen's lips as he walked alongside Eden through the cave's corridors. After nearly endless hours of discussion, the werewolves had finally finished addressing all of the issues on the agenda for their meeting. Eden's hand patted his shoulder.
"How come I'm more tired after a few hours sitting in a council room than after a hunting party?"
"Because you are an overcheated werewolf and what you call a hunting party is a brutal and merciless execution of poor and helpless deers. Of course, it's easier than playing diplomats with dozens of interlocutors that must be taken into consideration."
"You're being dramatic!" Glen grumbled as he undid the top buttons of his shirt. I don't just hunt deers. Sometimes I hunt wild boar! Some of them have dirty moves, you know?"
The omega chuckled and clung to his mate's arm. They walked without hurrying and, after a while, the alpha broke the silence that had settled between them.
"Do you think we will lift this curse one day? We've been looking for months now and to this day, all wizards repeat the same thing. The seal is too strong to be broken.
"Well, I didn't expect to break a thousand-year-old curse in just a few days. But I think that's not the most important thing in this meeting. The very fact that werewolves, civilians, and wizards regardless of their clans gathered together to try together to solve the problem for a fair division of lands that leaves no people harmed is a sign that we won. Even if we don't agree on everything from the start. We have made this world a place where we can discuss such a problem together. I don't mind if it's hard, or if it takes time. It's peaceful and it feels like a dream. I like it."
Eden rubbed his cheek on his mate's arm and Glen turned his head to kiss his hair. It was true that the world they lived in was imperfect. There were still many obstacles to overcome, but werewolves could live alongside humans without the latter feeling threatened and the same was for witches and wizards.
The two leaders of Bloodhood froze upon receiving a link from their firstborns, the twins. The two young alphas were complaining about their absence near their uncle Dante's cave and Eden chuckled before answering them in the same way.
The blonde-haired werewolf turned to wrap his arms around his alpha's neck. He quickly kissed him on the mouth and pulled away but the dominant was faster. Glen wrapped his arms around his mate's hips before staring at him with a loving gaze. He was already leaning when the sound of someone clearing their throat startled him. The alpha turned to face Silver and Snow Bloodhood who were both smiling broadly.
"Don't mind us," smirked the dominant. "We're just passing by to go to Dante's cave. The little ones keep sending us links asking us to hurry up because they want us to everyone be there when the baby finally shows the tip of its snout."
"I can't wait to see them," Eden stated with shining eyes.
The four werewolves thus strode to the cave of Dante Rivers, Bloodhood's beta and Eden's best friend. He was about to welcome his firstborn and the excitement was at its pick in the whole pack because the birth was at least as expected as those of the heirs to Bloodhood had been.
Eden locked eyes with his childhood friend and the dominant shook his head with a worried look to answer his silent question. Suddenly a whimper reached them and Dante rushed inside the cavern. Outside, all of the werewolves that were present held their breath. One of them, however, seemed more agitated than impatient.
Anthony Bloodhood, the youngest out of the Bloodhood siblings, stared at the curtain as if hypnotized. Suddenly, his feet moved on their own and his older sister who was standing right next to him had no time to react and catch him before he sneaked in. Everyone gasped when the three-year-old male omega rushed back into the room before stopping to stare at the newborn.
*aura: source of energy owned by all supernatural beings and which is connected to their life source. It changes color depending on the kind (werewolves, vampires) or depending on the clan when it comes to wizards and witches. The greater an aura is, the more the supernatural being who owns it is gifted by its protective deity.
