Beyond the reaches of the physical universe exists their metaphysical vapor: A space removed from the boundaries that housed their ancient ancestors. Unaffected by the superficial influence of chronology, this space has become their means of permanent existence. They exist between the creases and folds of time and are connected to one another with such totality that they are now only vaguely plural.

A measurement of their length of being would be an exercise in futility. They have always been, though not always as they are. They are the last of a generation of life forms that facilitated their discovery of the vehicle which they used to become what they are. The last of a generation that gave them their means to slip into the space between time.

They have become content with their isolation from corporeal hunger and emotion. They believe there can never be entities like themselves: Beings that learned the means to manipulate the matrices of reality.

These beings have escaped all but hubris.

Something is different. A something that they believe is meant to be static has begun to move. There is a shift in the vapor; an abnormality that should not exist.

The beings of infinite knowledge are now asking...

For the first time since they spoke their way into the vapor...

For the first time since these beings gained meta-cosmic influence... 

For the first time since becoming entities beyond emotion... 

They feel fear.
