Melissa sat in solitude as she looked at the desolation of her burnt village, remembering the sweet reminisces of her beautiful, healthy village just to see it razed, fire blazing and dancing around the village. Listening to the flames crackles and roaring inferno as She couldn't move, she couldn't cry and wail, she couldn't even scream for her friends in hopes that they'll hear her and come to her, even if she saw they're charred, coal-black, razed bodies near their house and in the middle of the dirt street; stuck in a running stance. She didn't know if she could be happy or sad that now they were gone as Melissa just stood there, silent, words suck in her throat as she opens her mouth but no sound came out, but closing her mouth as her jaw lock shut, her eyes dull and widen as her mind blanks whilst she stood shocked and bewildered at such a gruesome sight. her hands clutching her dirty, tattered dress. but in the inside of her shattered heart, she knew, Melissa knew what happens because it was she. the one that caused the town fire… Melissa finally broke out of her unconscious stare and turn around swiftly towards the forest and started walking towards her newfound journey filled with new opportunities, she did what needed to be done. She finally felt free from the invisible chains that were latched on around her body, it felt like she could finally breathe in that fresh air she has been missing out, she felt like a bird that broke out of it's rusty, old cage. she felt.... free. the massive village fire stays forever ablaze, as every time she turns she could see it getting smaller and smaller until it was out of her field of vision. "f-freedom..." was all she chokes out from her silences. The words that used to be forbidden to her, she could now reach the words she yearned so longingly for. no more was she the village peasant, It was the start of her new life.... a new chapter to her book as she waited for the feather pen to start writing it.
