Hey guys,
I have to apologize for the long hiatus without any explanation. A few months ago my wife was diagnosed with a serious medical condition and it has been nearly impossible to continue the comic while she is undergoing treatment. It's difficult to talk about so I've just ignored the comic for some time now. I do have every intention of returning to Heroes for Ghosts in the near future when things here begin to return to normal! Thanks guys.

Very sorry to hear that. I wish you and your wife the best as you go through this. Comics can always wait.

I pray healing for your wife. I'm sorry to hear that. Thank you, Michael, for taking out the time to let us know. You and your wife be blessed and take your time. We're not going anywhere.

Hey guys,
I'm in the middle of a hopefully very brief hiatus while we're dealing with biblical-level disasters upon disasters here in Texas. Back ASAP!

Ohhhh, my Lord, you're in Austin!!! Where are you? At home, relief center, in another area?

I'm at home, but Port Aransas is my hometown so we've got a couple of refugee families here and power issues etc.. Lot's to deal with!

Hey gang, just to let you know, I'm in the midst of a summer vacation with the family and my band's ep release is coming the week after so I'm a bit swamped. The new Heroes for Ghosts page will be up sometime next week! Thanks for sticking around!

Hey guys!
I'm taking my customary week off for the holidays, but I'll be back just after the new year with more Heroes for Ghosts! Till then if you just can't get enough you can check out an interview I gave to the very awesome Patti Martinson over at Sequentialtart.com. It's a cool website dedicated to comics and comics criticism. Check it out! http://www.sequentialtart.com/article.php?id=3010
Below is a little preview of next week's page. Happy holidays to all!

Hey guys,
Sorry to spam up your boards! I just wanted to let you know that my intense involvement in the American political activity this week has prevented me from working much on this week's page. I'm going to take a few days to reset my bearings and refocus and then be back next week with the next exciting installment. Think of it as a tiny vacation to clear my head. Thanks for sticking with it! There's a great review of Heroes for Ghosts at Sequential Tart's website if any of you are interested! http://www.sequentialtart.com/reports.php?ID=10148&issue=2016-11-07

The people of who posted that video must have a VERY different definition of riot than I do, because that just looks like a protest.
TheCreator
TheCreator Nov 10, 2016
It barely counts as a protest, I'm not sure if there were any property damage but there were arrests.

Michael Hayden creator Nov 10, 2016
Arrests are not unusual at a protest. A riot is a very different thing and it's deeply dishonest to call what is on that video a "riot". Disappointing.

Hey gang!
My illustration software crashed last night and despite many saves it seems to have taken the inks for this week's page with it. I'm super bummed at losing all that work, and it will be a few more days until this week's page is up. Thanks for hanging in there!

I back my stuff up in a portable emergency hard drive; great investment.

That's the absolute pits man. My suggestion is take a day if you can spare it. Little boils my blood more than needlessly losing work.

Thanks guys! I just shut it all down and went out and saw a band and then started fresh the next day. Almost caught back up now.

Yep, that's the only way. Last time it happened to me, I went to the movies. Anything to get your mind off it.

Hey guys!
I'm trying something new to try and generate a few more subs. I'm going to do each new page as a new "episode" in order to be featured in the fresh section on Taps home page. After the day of the update I will add the page to the chapter it belongs to so that the entire chapter can still be read as a single scrolling unit without an ad between each page(which drives me nuts). I will erase the new "episode" and do the same thing the next week until an actual new episode begins. If this is somehow annoying to you guys because of something I haven't thought of then let me know and I'll stop! Thanks!

A couple creators run their series twice at Tapastic, simultaneously. One posts the work frequently and regularly in bite-sized bits, basically as strips; the other compiles the same work as single-unit, long chapters in traditional monthly issue style, more or less. It seems like a fair compromise, as the venue and reading culture for webcomics is way more like mid-20th century newspapers than like monthly and bimonthly comics issues. My version of this is to post pages at Tapastic and live with the ads, and to collect the stories ("chapters") at my site as they're completed.

I too am considering doing something similar. I made the foolish mistake of dumping 25 pages of my stuff on the site right off the bat. Now I average 25 views every week. I'd love to hear how your strategy goes guys. I'd love to work with you guys on perfecting a good technique. BTW I just found your board because of your comment on another persons wall. Regardless, SUBBED! And I'll run through both yer comics and see what I "Like" ;)

Hey, Overlord_Thundersnow! Thanks! So far there has been a slight uptick in subs but I get so few that it's hard to know if my scheme is working. I'll know better after a few months I think. What I need to really do is get better at promoting the comic. I've got a lot going against me as far as the average Tapastic reader is concerned in that my book is in black and white, it's western styled art, it's not cute, it has superheroes in tights, it's wordy as hell etc... the onus is going to be on me to go out there and find my audience which I think is going to be kind of a niche one. I think Ron is right that I need to eventually have a site of my own. I hope you enjoy it and I'll check out your stuff!

Hey guys, this page of mine has a chart showing my strategy: http://adept-press.com/adept-comics. But there doesn't seem to be a substitute for being discovered by someone with a zillion followers or regular readers on something like Reddit. H'm ... must be a way to enhance infrastructure at the grassroots level - I helped do that for RPGs fifteen years ago, maybe I can do a bit here.
