Dead Thirst is going to be on a mini hiatus for a bit. Diane and I are talking about the future of the comic and making some changes to the format and process. So here's the rough idea at the moment...
I've recently been working with a water color set that I got for as a gift and I'm loving it. Diane, the writer for Dead Thirst, noticed this and spoke up about my excitment and art direction. She spoke directly how about my art and Dead Thirst don't always align. And frankly, she was right. While I enjoy making Dead Thirst, it was always a stretch for me to include the details needed to really flesh out the steampunk world we were trying to create. She'd often ask me to add little flurishes here and there. It would make the scene better but it wasn't my natural way of thinking about things.
So we've decided that I'm going to stop making the art for Dead Thirst after the end of issue 2. We aren't sure if someone else will pick up the comic and continue where I left off but we did decide that she's going to continue to write the story. In fact, we're hoping that we can turn it into an actual novel. She's a very talented writer and a lot of that doesn't come through in the comic due to, ya know, pictures not words.
As of right now, there are 7 pages left in issue 2 and I plan on finishing them up. When will that happen? I'm not entirely sure because it depends on how we want to transition from comic to book and if someone else is taking the reigns from me for the art. Basically, there are a lot of questions and not a lot of answers right now.
