I was a middle school art teacher, I've been working on my comic for several years on my down time since undergrad school. A lot of my influences are mostly from manga but the story is loosely based off my life after I dropped out of high school. Currently, my comic is on a few webcomic hosting sites Smack Jeeves, comic fury, and the duck. I also have a website with all four issues finished so far. I submitted the first chapter which would be the first issue. I would like to release all four as volume one of a graphic novel. I have the remaining arch outlined and scripted, I'm just waiting on time, but if I had to release an issue at a time, just to peak the audience interest and keep them coming back while I worked on the next chapter monthly release or by monthly would work fine for me.
