The reason for the restrictions and regulations is the risk and possibility of the lithium ion battery exploding mid-air. It may happen when the pressure and temperature during the carry rise above or fall below the safe and standard limits. In such cases, the batteries do not get the optimum conditions required to maintain a reliable and secure state. It can end up bursting suddenly or arbitrarily. It can result in a detrimental situation during transportation, leading to multiple injuries, damages, and even deaths.
