Princess cut diamonds offer an appealing price point in addition to superb brilliance and a remarkable aesthetic. Princess cut diamonds are typically 20% to 40% less expensive than round diamonds. This is due, in part, to the fact that princess cut diamonds are fancy shaped, and all fancy shaped diamonds are less expensive than round diamonds. However, because of the way they are cut, princess cut diamonds have a price advantage over other fancy forms. When two princess cut diamonds are placed table to table, they have nearly the same form as a raw diamond crystal. This implies that cutting princess diamonds produces relatively little rough diamond waste, allowing diamond cutters to keep prices low.
