There were no signs on the outside of the building, just a flickering, electric ‘Open’ sign in the window. The outside of the building was very out of place for downtown; a single, box-like structure, with white walls, a shingled roof, and a single door in the front. Rowen turned the door handle and entered, a small bell tinkling to announce his presence in the shop. Inside, there were rows and rows of junk on shelves, covering most of the walls and floors, and the small counter towards the back of the shop. A short old lady with a cane walked out of the back room behind the counter, followed by a slick black cat. The lady's hair was a greying brown, sticking out in every direction, and she was wearing a dress that was probably blue at some point long ago, but not anymore.
“Hello!” the lady said, in a voice that didn't quite match her body. “Welcome to Past Passed On, my wonderful antique shop. If you need anything, just ask me!”
Looking at the lady, who still hadn't told him her name, he nodded. The lady turned to walk away.
“Um,” Rowen started, and the lady turned to face him, a smile on her face. “I'm looking for a good book, do you have any?”
She nodded and said, “I think I have the book for you.” and she walked behind the counter and into the back room.
Rowen heard some things being moved, and he walked over to the counter and waited.
A few minutes later, the lady came out from the back room and handed him a leather-bound book. On the front, in an old cursive style, it said:
O.B.
