About an hour later a red haired woman came to us, I had been strung up from a tree by my hand bindings after my little escape and was dangling in front of her while she placed long stems with green leaves and white flowers generously around me in a circle.
"What is that," Tyler asked the question I had been dying to know but was gagged and couldn't ask.
"Motherwort, it increases fertility when ingested."
"Why would you give her more of something that we want to take away," Wyatt growled at her.
Growled?
"When a doctor wants to make an antidote to a disease, they make it out of bacteria from said disease. I'm making this spell myself so I decided to take a page from the humans book. It should work."
"It'd better, else it's your head I'll be taking."
Faye- the red haired woman- glanced over to the little girl she had broughtt with her. From what I'd gathered her name was Zoey, she hasn't spoken a word since arriving, simply sat down on a rock with Tyler standing a few feet from her. She seemed oddly comfortable with him.
"It will do the trick, sir. Don't worry."
"Hm," Wyatt hummed before going back over to her spot.
His spot? Tyler and Faye refer to her as a he but I can't tell anymore.
Faye took a deep breath and put her arms out stretched at her sides, her head tilted back and she began to mutter some words that I couldn't understand. Some I got, though I can't understand them.
Puer, fertilitatis, aetate, totius, medium, puella.
Her head snapped downwards violently and a sudden rush of cold ran through me, my abdomen began to ache then sting and lastly pain like I'd never felt before. Heat took over after a few moments of this extreme agony that left me gasping for breath, a sense of emptiness set in and my head dropped from the weary feeling that took over.
I looked down at her.
"What did you do to me?"
"I-," she glanced at Wyatt who was staring intently at me, the last part she added in a whisper," I did something much better than what he wanted me to."
Her eyes held so much fear in them, I cocked my heavy head to the side.
"Why are you doing this?"
"I'm casting the spell to save my life," she looked down before adding quietly," I'm helping you to save hers."
She casted her eyes towards the little girl. I gave the child a good look when Faye walked away, her hair was a beautiful blond shade but that's all I could make out from the distance. She was small, no more than 7 or 6 and playing with a necklace. I wanted to see what the necklace was but Wyatt was coming closer to me.
"Zoey's a lovely girl, isn't she?"
"I wouldn't know. I'm hung from a tree and she's over there."
"She's just like her father, especially so in her abilities."
"What kind of abilities?"
"The kind that allow Faye to do what she just did to you."
"What is Faye to her?"
"Aunt. Only she doesn't know it."
"Why are you telling me this?"
"Because it won't matter in about 5 minutes anyway. Tyler," he snapped to attention and jogged over to us," Take her to the meadow while I find a scout and tell him of your whereabouts."
He nodded and pulled me to him.
___
Tyler held me close to him with one hand, the other pulling my head to the side so he could point his teeth at me. Sharp, sharp teeth that became sharp out of no where when he wanted them to like something out of a Dracula movie. My head felt dizzy from his biting me earlier. He drank from me.
If my head were on straight then I'd be going insane but right now I'd call myself lucky to be conscious.
It took almost half an hour for people to arrive. I was so confused when they did, it wasn't my father or someone else close to me, it was the boys from the bakery earlier, another man who looked like Mike but older and with the start of a beard and a blond haired girl with dark skin.
When Mike saw me he came closer but Tyler hissed and he stopped. The others came up to stand a few steps behind Mike.
A strange feeling of relief flowed through me at the sight of him, wide and worried eyes, mussed appearance and all. Tyler says a few words but I couldn't be bothered to hear them in my state. My heart fluttered when he studied me, eyes hardening at the sight of my wrist.
"Let her go, Tyler. We can talk this through like men."
"But we can't, you see, you still have my mate."
Mate? What's a mate? Like an animal has a mate? Reproduction?
"Nova is not a bargaining chip. You know the prophecy. We can't just hand her over to you."
"I've found someone who can keep that from happening,"
"Who will help you?"
"He's found me."
I heard Faye's voice from behind me. I wanted to turn but didn't dare after I saw what his teeth can do earlier.
"Faye, what are you doing," the man who looked like Mike said.
He stepped closer but Tyler moved nearer to my neck and he stopped as well. My heart beat rapidly in my chest, all earlier fluttering out the window as cold hard fear replaced.
"I'm giving you what you deserve!"
"What are you talking about, Faye? We've taken care of you, fed you, housed you, clothed you."
"No! No, you didn't. You stuck me in a house in the woods. You put me with the rest of the orphans! You killed my family!"
"They were awful to you. They attacked us. We did what we had to do."
"They were my family and you took them from me! Now- now I'm going to do the same."
"Faye, wait-"
Faye started to chant in another language and Tyler turned to face her and his arms loosened on me, he whispered something before I ran.
"Be careful, Luna."
I wanted to stay and ask what he meant but that but Mike waved me over and I went to him. His arms encased me safely against him and I hid myself in his embrace, not wanting to see anymore of this insanity. His hand brushed my hair and I fought back tears of fear.
I heard Wyatt say," Bring us the other oracles by nightfall or else."
Mike pulled back from me a moment later to give me a slightly more thorough inspection than he'd given me earlier before leading me into the woods and back to a house.
