I pulled out everything I collected to day along with the spell book and my notebook. We put two pillows and blankets on the floor. Meli and I laid down while Cara followed the instructions in the book.
“First we place the blue candle by Meli’s head and light it. The blue candle will promote protection, calm, communication and spiritual intensification.” Cara set the candle by Meli’s head and lit it by blowing softly on it.
“Next we light the silver candle. It will promote help from our Goddess, telepathy, clairvoyance and dreams.” Cara placed the silver candle by my head and blew on the wick lighting the candle. She than placed the agronomy under Meli’s and my pillow and then handed Meli the moon stone to promote sleep. Now to chant the sleeping spell. Meli and I both closed our eyes and chanted the spell as one.
“By this candle I do sleep. Hidden from the rest in the night. O Goddess of the moon guide my dreams, cover me so I may sleep. As this candle flame dies let me close my eyes and not wake until the light of the sun is arise.” When we finished the spell the flame of the candles flickered and went out. My eyelids feel heavy and soon I was asleep. The rest was up to Cara. She placed her hand over my eyes and pictured me standing with Meli in a foggy place. I could see myself standing with Meli, than as Cara spoke without breaking our connection I chanted with her in my dream.
“I wish to visit. I wish to see. I wish to visit Meli’s dream. As I will so mote it be.” at once everything went dark. Slowly I was able to see, it was cloudy and gray. I could see Meli off in the distance. I walked closer to her. Soon I was able to see a young girl about our age talking to Meli.
“She’s coming. Be ready.” the girl said to us.
“Whose coming” I asked kind of freighted. The girl was about our height with long pail blonde hair and ice blue eyes.
“My inner self. The Dark one.”
“Do you mean the Dark Goddess.” as soon as I said it everything shifted and a hundred girls lined up in front of us. All at once they spoke.
“She was banished long ago for committing a wrong dead. One hundred lives she lives until she turns sixteen and dies. Her one is up, she is sixteen, and she remembers all that has happened to her over every life. The world will end in a tragic seen if she is not stopped by seventeen. Horrible acts and a horrible world it will be. You have been chosen Lily as I will so mote it be.” When the girls finished it was like I was being pushed out of Meli’s dream and back into my own body. Everything went black. When I woke up I found myself in my bed Cara sitting next to me, Meli writing in her journal.
“Oh good you're up”
“How long was I out for?”
“Not long. Meli’s writing everything down. She said a lot happened.”
“We need to find out more on the Dark Goddess.” Who is she and how do we stop her? I explained everything that happened to Cara.
“Wow. So what does that mean?”
“Where not sure at the moment.”
“Okay well I’ll let you guys get to bed than.” Cara smiled and walked over to the door.
“I’ll see you guys tomorrow. Night.” I watched her close the door.
“How are you feeling Meli?” She was still sitting in her bed scribbling in her journal. She didn’t answer me at first, but kept writing. I was starting to get worried when she quickly dropped her pen and slammed shut her book.
“I’m tired Lily. Good night.” with that she put her book under her pillow and laid down. With a sigh I turned off the lights and laid down in my own bed. I have been chosen.
“Good night Meli.”
We slept in late Saturday, tired from the night before. When we finally got up and dressed we made plans to meet up with the guys. I packed up a bag with my notebook and Meli’s journal. On our way out we met up with Cara.
“I did some research on our D.G.” Cara said quietly when she started walking with us.
“Did you sleep at all last night?” I asked her. Worried that she had stayed up all night.
“A little, I was just so caught up in everything I just kept reading.” We walked into the dining hall to grab something to eat before we met up with the guys. We heard a loud crash in the middle of the dining room.
“How dare you be so incompetent?” Everyone looked over to find Celeste, Darcy and Zale yelling at a poor girl who was on her hands and knees picking up glass.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to bump into you.” the girl mumbled while trying to pick up the glass.
“Lire! You ruined my couture silk dress!” Celeste yelled and then whispered. “Next time you will be punished.” She used her words like a whip. Turning as one. Celeste, Darcy and Zale walked out of the dining hall.
“What’s up her butt?” I asked. Cara leaned in and whispered to me.
“Celeste and her friends have become known as the mean girls. I heard that she was bad at her old school but since coming here she’s gotten worse.” Sigh, I guess you can’t escape bullies no matter where you go. When we finished in the dining room and headed out to the moon cliffs. I looked out over the water, listening to the pounding of the wave’s agents the cliff walls. The Dark Goddess. Who is she? Why is she evil and how do I find out who she is now. And why have I been chosen? There are so many questions and no answers. I need to read those scrolls. When the boys showed up we talked about the plans they came up with to get into the Priestesses office. Before night fell we went back to our dorm rooms, wanting a few hours of shut eye before we set out for the night. When I woke up my body felt stiff and sore. I rolled over to look at Meli.
“What’s going on?” when she looked at me I saw her wearing thick black rimmed glasses.
“Why are you wearing glasses?” Meli smiled.
“I usually wear contacts but my eyes are sore so I put my glasses on.” I half smiled at her as I rolled out of bed. Ugh I feel horrible.
“I’m going to take a shower.”
“Okay, be quick.” grabbing my shower stuff I headed down to the bathroom. Once in the shower stall I turned on the hot water and just stood there letting the heat melt the soreness in my muscles. I sopped up my hair and tilted my head back to let the water wash over my hair. It felt so good I didn’t want to get out, but tonight’s the night so I have to hurry. I turned off the water quickly dressed in black yoga pants and a lacy black tank top, before heading to my room to pull my towel dried hair into a bun on the top of my head. I looked over at Meli who was wide awake and reading in her bed.
“How are you not tired? I slept for a few hours and I’m still tired.”
“I kept the agrimony plant under my pillow and it really helped me sleep. Besides I read that dream walking really takes a lot out of you.” We spent the short amount of time we had left to study and catch up on our sleep. When our alarms went off at midnight we headed down to the priestess office and meet up with the Hayden and Gavin.
“Okay, now how do we unlock the office door?” Meli asked. Gavin pulled out a small leather pouch from his back pocket. “Well we're just going all out tonight aren’t we.” Inside the pouch, each in their own little place where tiny little mettle tools. Gavin chuckled and he pulled out two of the tools and started working on the lock. Surprisingly it didn’t take him vary long to unlock and open the door. Cara led us to the back of the room where a large glass case stood full of scrolls.
“The case is sealed.” Cara said, she pulled a small piece of paper out of her pocket and unfolded it. “I figured it would be, with all the important documents in the school stored in here. I have been working on something though.” Taking a small bit a balled up clay from the paper she spread it over the small lock on the door. Holding her hands over the clay she spoke her spell. “I hereto lotus static recreate hocpepore. Ita ut in eam partem lepone remove casus aperine apenta apera.” At first we heard the sound of the tumblers and then a click. Cara smiled and pealed the clay off the keyhole and opened the door. We started searching the scrolls trying our best not to disturb them too much. We didn’t want anyone to know that we had been here.
“There are too many scrolls in here where never going to find it.” Gavin said. We kept looking for what felt like hours, were all tired and ready to give up when Hayden pulls out one last scroll.
“Hey guys I found it.” Hayden whispered. He passed me the scroll and we closed the glass door. Quietly we headed back out of the office and into the hallway, sure to lock up everything behind us. We said our goodnights and headed back to our room. Cara came back to mine and Meli’s room. Taking a seat in a circle on the floor we opened the scroll.
“The Dark Goddess is banished to a hundred years as a mortal. The dark Goddess vowed her return on the hundredth life. On her last life she will remember all that has happened. She will know all of her past lives and remember their joys and pain’s from life, she will know that on the eve of her seventeenth birthday she will regain all of her powers as a goddess. She will take our world and rule it as her own bringing darkness upon us. Only the foretold can stop her and survive. A group of six young witches will prevail and will bring light to this dark world. A flower, A Heathen, A Friend, A Honeybee, A white hawk and a Huntsman, as one they will bring together the earth, wind, and water.
I am Darkness.
I am the absence of air.
I am the end.
I am the key that locks every door, for I am forbidden.” As I read the scroll aloud I could feel something burning inside me. I didn’t know what to say after I finished reading it.
“When will her hundredth life be up?” Cara asked
“Well if I’m right and my dreams always are than I think that she’s on her hundredth life and she’s about to turn seventeen.”
“They gave us six names of witches. But no one is named like that anymore.” Cara said taking the scroll from me and looking it over. I thought about it, thinking about what my mother had once told me when I was little. I thought back to the memory. I could see my mom sitting on the porch swing with me in her lap.
“Mom my teacher told me today that my name is special and holds a lot of meanings.” She smiled and nodded.
“All names have meanings honey. A can hold a lot of power and tell you many things about a person. Take your name, its Latin. A flower name, a symbol of innocence and purity as well as beauty. I named you Lily because you hold all of those meanings.” I looked over and Cara
“I don’t think there actual names. I think their meanings of names.” Cara smiled and nodded in agreement with me.
“Well you know what that means, back to the library.” I looked at the time and yawned. It’s two in the morning time for bed. I took the scroll back from Cara and hid it under my mattress. We said our goodnights and Cara went back to her room while Meli and I slipped into our beds. I had no trouble falling asleep, tired from everything that happened today.
