Gone

Constantly Wondering

Constantly Wondering

Mar 12, 2018

Worry filled my mind. Remember me? Who do I ever need to remember when I possibly left every thing I had behind.

"Who's that?" The detective asked.

I shrugged. I had no idea whose number this was, all I knew was that this person was someone I once knew. But I can't remember anyone at this point. All my memories are surrounded by only one person, but she's gone. I haven't seen this number before, not that I would remember if I did. I have no need to remember all these useless details. They aren't going to help me, or so I always thought last time.

The detective scratched his head in confusion. I assumed that this was not normal, he did not have his signature smirk on his face that I always noticed when I told him something. This was related to me.

Not anyone else.

"So, what do think this means?" He asked. How would I know? I thought he was helping me, not I help him. I shrugged, I didn't want to sound too harsh.

I know how that could go, but no one else what I could do, or what I did.

I paced around his desk area, it always helped me to think. How could this be? I never gave anyone my number - only my family, my mother and sister. My vision blurred. I closed my eyes as I tried to remember everything, even that incident. I wish I could forget but how could I? Her star has faded away just because of one stupid mistake.

She's gone.

I blocked that memory as hard as I could. It cannot be related, that was too many years ago so why only now? Plus, I never told anyone, not even them. I shook my head in disagreement, but I couldn't think of anything else. I hadn't done much in my life. My life was meaningless, unlike every body else's. It should have been my star that faded away.

A useless one.

"Hey! We got mail to... Lauren Lim?" A police officer announced.

I claimed the mail. Who could this be? I opened the crisp, white envelope and took out the letter within it.

It read: Hey, why don't you answer me?

I took in a deep breath. I started to pace around the room faster, my eyes widened and my breathing quickened.

I will always wonder- Why me?
