I turn six today

But mommy won't let me have a cake

Mommy is silly like that

But I understand

Today the booms outside are really loud

They're loud and all the time

And I hear a man yelling at Mommy 

Well, not really at mommy

But at my tower

He's yelling a lot

"Get down!"

And

"Stay inside!"

Maybe that's why I can't have cake tonight

The man has one of those scary guns

The big ones

The ones that look like the ones my army men used to use

I say used to

Because ever since the booms started

Mommy wouldn't let me have them
