When the rain comes

When the water

                            f                         l

                                          a                        l          

                                                                           s

And floods the sidewalk

I pray it

Spread goosebumps across my skin,

To cause my breathing to slow.

May the rainwater flood my lungs

Only then will I know,

                   When my great-grandmother said 

                                               she was born on the sea,

This is merely the ocean reclaiming me.
