“Meli have you had any visions lately?” Meli was sitting on her bed doing homework while I used the desk. Last night we talked to our Mother Goddess and tonight we have to go to the cliffs and talk to the water fairy’s and try to get them on our side.
“No I haven’t, why?”
“I was just wondering.” I found out not everyone is affected by the evil spell Darcy put on the school. I need to come up with a ways to recognize the people who haven’t been effected. We need to practice our magic and get ready for this battle we have to fight in. My phone started to ringing country music. I recognized it as Hayden calling. “Hey what’s up?”
“Are you busy?”
“Not really, I’m just trying to figure out how to destroy the Dark Goddess.” The Dark Goddess, the end of the world. This is starting to stress me out.
“Would you like to take a break?” I sat back in my chair and thought about all that I still had left to do.
“Yeah.” He hung up and I jumped out of my chair and went over to my dresser. I pulled on a pair of low rise biker jeans and a low cut, lace back tank top.
“Why are you getting so dressed up?” Meli asked
“I’m not getting dressed up. I’m just getting dressed, I can’t go out in my jammies.”
“Yeah, okay who’s the lucky guy anyway?”
“It’s just Hayden.” Meli fell back on her bed a laughed.
“Just Hayden. Ha. What a crock. You like him admit it.”
“Well yeah I like him. He’s my best friend.”
“No, not friend like. You boyfriend like him. Honey you love him.” I blushed and took a seat on her bed.
“I’ve been in love with Hayden since we first met. I’ve just never had the guts to do anything about it."
“Why haven’t you told him?” because I don’t want him to laugh in my face. I thought to myself.
“I don’t want to ruin our friendship.”
“Honey I think you should tell him. If the way he looks at you says anything I think you should give it a shot.” I shrugged. I’m still not sure, sometimes I wish he would just kiss me.
“I don’t know.” (Beep) (Beep) a text from Hayden telling me he’s at the girl’s dorm door waiting for me. “He’s here I’ll see you later.
“Take a shot. Don’t be scared.” Meli yelled at me as I walked out the door. I ran down the stairs and through the sitting room. As soon as I got to the door I stopped and took a second to calm down before opening it up. When I walked out I found Hayden leaning in the railing looking out passed everything.
“Hayden?” I said his name quietly, he looked at me. His eyes looked somber and knowing. He straightened from the railing and walked over to me. Taking my hand he led me down the stairs.
“How’s trying to stop the goddess all by yourself going?”
“Not well.” He squeezed my hand letting me know he was there for me.
“How about instead of you doing this all by yourself we do this as a team. We find our sixth mate and we work together.” I sighed and nodded.
“What if we don’t find our sixth mate?”
“We will, it’s our fate.” I smiled up at him.
“Since when do you believe in fate?” he squeezed my hand again.
“Since I met you.” I do love Hayden. I just don’t know how to tell him. What if it ruins our friendship? What if he doesn’t like me that way? Oh what to do. Goddess please help me. We walked for a long time before we stopped, we ended up at the bottom of the cliffs where the water touched the rocks. We stood on the rocky beach, looking out at the crystal clear water.
“It’s so quiet.” I said looking out at the ocean. I relished in the calm, letting it wash over me. Who knows when the next time I’ll feel like this. Hayden let go of my hand and picked up some rocks. He started to skip them over the water.
“We’ve gone through a lot of changes lately.”
“Yes we have. If I didn’t have you I don’t think I would be able to handle it all.” I slipped off my shoes and sat down on a rock, letting my feet hang in the water.
“Did you mean that?” I looked up at him, he looks deep in thought. I wonder what’s bothering him.
“Yes I do. You’re very important to me.” He let out a breath and came over to me.
“Lily, I have to ask you something.” He folded my small hands in his much bigger ones.
“Is something wrong?” he rubbed his thumbs in circles over my knuckles.
“How do you feel about me?” My heart fluttered. This is it, the moment I’ve been waiting for. I looked deep into his beautiful brown eyes and said
“I… ah… oh geez. Hayden...I love you.” I squeezed my eyes shut, afraid of what I would see if I looked into his eyes.
“Lily, please open your eyes.” I kept them closed a little longer before opening them and looking into his eyes. All I saw was love. I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding.
“You’re not mad or laughing at me?” he smiled one of his stomach flipping smiles.
“Lily I feel the same way. I have for a long time.” My heart stopped in my chest.
“You do?” he pulled me towards him, setting me in his lap.
“I do, I have ever since we met.”
“Why didn’t you ever say anything?”
“I didn’t want to ruin our friendship and I was afraid you wouldn’t feel the same way. But now that I know you feel the same things are going to change.” I rested my head on his shoulder.
“How will things change?” Hayden turned his head to look at me. He brought his hand up and rested it on my cheek. Slowly he brought his lips to mine. His lips were warm and soft agents mine. His kisses were soft at first, slow pecks agents my lips.
Then he ran his tongue along my bottom lip. I gasped at the sudden warmth and wetness when it touched me, he took that gasp and deepened the kiss. I moaned into his mouth and he pulled me closer to him.
I always wondered what it would be like to kiss Hayden and know that I know, I don’t want it to end. Pleasure coursed through me. His arms tightened around me, holding me close to him. I had been kissed once before and it had been nothing like this. Hayden is my true love and I’m never letting him go. My phone started to ring, an old Irish tune filled the air. We broke our kiss with a sigh of disappointment. I answered the call, Cara told me it was time to meet at the cliffs. I hung up my phone and gave Hayden one last kiss. When we reached the top of the cliffs we found Meli, Gavin and Cara sitting cross legged around a bowl filled with water. A light blue candle stood in the middle of the bowl. We sat down next to Meli taking our places in the circle. Cara closed her eyes and her wings appeared. She raised her hands, holding her palms open and pointed towards the sky.
“I call on the wind to take my words. I ask the water to hear me. Fly to me, travel the distance of the sea. I call of three to visit me in this time of need. In the light of the moon we will see. As I may so mote it be.” Cara chanted. When she finished she clapped her hands together, a loud noise like thunder sounded around us. Waives splashed high agents the cliffs, lightning sliced through the sky and rain started to poor down on us. The moon light got brighter as we watched a fairy completely made out of water fly towards us. When she reached us she grew into a human sized women. As she grew her body became solid. Her hair was long, hanging down to her waist and light blue. Her skin was white yet almost clear. Her wings looked like water flowing and dripping from her.
“How can I answer your call?” her voice was soft and tranquil. She wore a light blue dress that flowed around her like water, Cara answered her.
“We call upon you today to warn you and ask for your help.”
“What do you have to warn us about?”
“A great danger. The Dark Goddess has risen in the form of a teenage girl. On all hallows eve she will receive the powers she will need to destroy the world. We were chosen in prophecy to defeat her. We ask for your help and allegiance in our battle.” The fairy touched Cara’s head and looked at all of us.
“You are strong and we will help with whatever you seek. I will tell you now, there are many others you can ask for help in your battle.” The water fairy created a large mirror out of the falling rain. She showed us visions of ourselves in it. “Find your sixth mate and you will succeed. He will also help you find the people of the sea.” A vision of a boy our age talking to a girl in the ocean appeared in the mirror. “Then you must find the shifters.” The vision changed to a girl with white hair running through the forest. One second she was a girl the next she was a white raven flying in the air. The water fairy waved her hand in front of the mirror and it fell to the ground in a puddle of water. She then turned back into water and shrunk in size. The rain stopped and the fairy was gone. We sat in our circle socked to the bone and wondering how we find our sixth.
“What if we do a spell to call for a lost witch?” We all looked over at Gavin.
“What are you talking about?” Meli asked
“To call a lost witch. My mother used it to find my sister when she got lost in the woods once. I can write one, let's meet at the beach tomorrow at noon.” We all said our good nights and headed back to the school. Hayden walked me back to the girl’s dorm. I looked up at him, he wrapped his arms around me, and I rested my hands on his chest. His right hand came up to my chin and angled my face so I was looking up at him.
“I told you things were going to change between us.” His heat surrounded me, making me feel safe in his arms. His lips came down on mine. I’ve never experienced anything like this. A pool of heat gathered between my legs, Hayden lifted his head and looked down at me. “Good night Lily.” He gave me one last peck before letting me go and opening the door for me. He patted me on the butt, sending me on my way. I can’t believe things are working out the way I always wanted them to. I closed the door to the girl’s dorm and leaned against it with a sigh of happiness.
“Ahem.” Meli and Cara stood in front of me with their arms crossed over their chests. I blushed and we all started laughing. They hugged me and we all headed up the stairs to mine and Meli’s room. When we were changed and sitting on my bed I told them what happened with Hayden after he picked me up this morning. We laughed and talked about how happy I am. It’s so nice to have girlfriends. It’s new for me, I’m used to it just being me and Hayden. But since I came to school here I’ve made friends and told Hayden how I feel. I just hope we can stop the Dark Goddess before Halloween. I don’t want to lose this, this place or these people.
