It’s been three weeks, I watched as Danelle came into work every day dressed all nice but with no skip in her step, no sparkle in her smile. Cassidy had called me this morning, she was worried about her mother and didn’t know what to do. I pulled into their driveway and walked right into their house. Cassidy met me at the door.
“She’s curled up in her bed. She has been doing nothing but watching sad movies and snacking on junk food.” I nodded and headed to Danny’s room. Her room was inviting with soft colors, pillows and a big fluffy comforter. Her large bed basically said don’t leave me, it’s the kind of bed that would give a man the idea to never let you leave it. Right away I could tell she wasn’t in her bed but in the bathroom. I waited for the few minutes it took her to finish and come out. Danny came out looking like a mess, her head was piled on top of her head. She wore a maroon sweater that hung to her knees and gray leggings. Her face was flushed and her eyes were puffy. She carried a box of tissues with her. She walked right passed me and climbed into bed.
“Cassidy called you?” I smiled at her and took a seat on the side of the bed.
“Honey, she’s just worried about you.” Danny blew her nose. It sounded horrible, I flinched for her.
“I’m sick.” She said through a stuffy nose. I laughed at her and she threw her dirty tissue at me. “If you’re going to stay here and laugh at me the least you can do is take care of me. I have to be better by next week so I can help Sasha with her Halloween party.
“Hey one of us has to go to work this week. So I can’t stay here and take care of you, but I know the perfect person for the job.” She rolled her eyes at me and I kissed her warm forehead before getting up and leaving. I found Cassidy in the kitchen. I took a seat next to her at the table. “I have an idea I want to run by you.”
