(Emah)
I sat in the grass plucking out strands hardly even listening to my friend talking. It, unfortunately, is only Tuesday and I hate Tuesdays almost as much as I hate Mondays.
"Emah! Are you even listening to me?" Nathinn said, finally getting my attention. To be honest, I forgot what he and I were even discussing, I am such a bad friend right now.
"I was at first but to be fair it is way too early for in-depth morning discussions," I said.
Nathinn rolled his eyes and smiled back at me. Nathinn has been my best friend since we first met a year ago, well him and his younger sister, Rina. The two of them are therianthropes, meaning they are half-human and half-animal, which is pretty damn cool in my opinion. I usually only get to see Nathinng, Rina is always skipping classes or coming to school late. It was early morning and I could very loud shrieking coming from behind me, something I didn't want to hear this damn early.
"Looks like the other celebrity arrived," Nathinn said pointing behind me. I turned to see a flock of girls swamp around Tristan Bradly. Rina, Nathinn and I, refer to him and his friends the 'boy band' of the school since they sure do get treated as such. I honestly don't know what makes them so special, they seem like ordinary guys to me.
"I still can't believe he has never been to your campus," I said.
"I honestly think it would worse over here, none of the girls here can actually get close to him. Not even when they switch, the human girls completely make it impossible for anyone to get close to any of them," Nathinn replied.
"That must really suck, being treated like that."
"I guess."
Nathinn shrugged as the bell rang, oh hey, time to learn shit.
After saying later to Nathinn, I began to walk to homeroom. Interesting enough the little 'boy band' share the same homeroom as I do. Homeroom at this school is supposed to be a class where the teachers confirm attendance and that's pretty much it. We aren't taught anything but we are allowed to do homework, make-up tests or catch up on schoolwork such as projects. I sat behind one of the twins, Wilder. I know it's him because he never talks, even when the girls try to get his attention. They finally got the hint he would never reply to them, so they stopped bugging him. His brother and friends sit on the other side of the classroom all next to each other. How he managed to get split up in this class is beyond me. All morning long I have to listen to girls squeal and try to go on dates with the 'boy band.' The other guys in this class seem to be fed up with it too, I can tell how annoyed they are on their faces. Wilder, is my science partner for our environmental science class. It took me a while to figure out he doesn't talk to just anybody like Ben, once I did figure that out, I became very irritated with the fact that I have to do a project with him. It's very annoying, I've tried on multiple attempts in environmental science to get him to work on the project with me. Nothing. It's as if he doesn't care about his grade! I could try to reach out right now, no one seems to be bothering us. I gently tapped on his shoulder,
"Hey, Wilder? Can we talk about our project?" I whispered.
Wilder flinched when I tapped him, I hope I didn't spook him.
"Wilder," I tapped again, still making sure to keep my voice hushed.
Still nothing, I know he felt that! He acknowledged the first tap, why is he making this much harder than it should be? I gently tapped on him once more, causing him to jerk his head around. Oh sweet Jesus, I was not expecting that. Wilder was glaring at me, I think I pissed him off.
"Hey, I'm Emah, your partner for science class. I just wanted to let you know that we should probably get started on our project," I said trying to smile at him. To be frank, I'm very irritated with his behavior. Wilder had rolled his eyes and turned back around, what the crap? Next thing I know, he turns back around and places this little paper on my desk. I read the note,
Work on the project by yourself, just put my name on it. Or I can do it and put your name on it, your choice.
This time I glared at him, who does he think he is?
"I'd rather work on the project together as a team," I stated.
To which Wilder replied by flipping me off and turning around again. That asshole! Next thing I know the bell rang and half the class took off like a stampede. Before I could get ahold of Wilder, he had rejoined his twin, both disappeared out the door along with my patience. I grabbed my backpack and headed for the door only to be called out by my teacher, Mr.Wood. I turned to face his desk to see him and Mikah Evans both staring at me. Did I miss something here?
"Emah, I asked you and Mikah to wait after class, did you forget?"
"Oh, uh, no," I mumbled, walking towards the desk to stand beside Mikah. Seriously when the hell did ask this? We must be getting switched out. Sure enough, Mr.Wood handed us both a manilla folder that contained our new schedules for a day.
"You two are to switch out this Friday. Your schedules are from a pair of vampires, so you'll notice you share a lot of classes," Mr. Wood explained.
I'm actually a bit excited, I've never switched with a vampire before so I'm curious to see if they learn anything differently. Not only that but I get to hang out with Nathinn and Rina.
"Emah?" Mr. Wood called, pulling me away from my thoughts.
I closed the folder, looking at him.
"You can be excused now," He pointed towards the door.
Where the hell did Mikah go? When did he even leave? If I had a dollar every time I spaced out, I would be a millionaire.
