I looked over at Cinderella, today she wore a green knit cap, yellow t-shirt, and dark brown leggings. Since she started hanging out with Henery a few weeks ago Drizella has been leaving her alone and Cinderella’s been a little brighter. I could tell she’s put on weight. Her cheeks look rosy and she smiles much more. They do their homework together and he helps her with her work in the barn. She goes to every one of his fencing matches to cheer him on.
“Do you think you'll go?” I asked her
“I don’t know. It depends on if I get asked.”
“Do you want to go shopping?” I laughed when I saw the surprise on her face.
“That was a big change in subject.”
“Well?”
“Well, what?”
“Do you want to go shopping? My treat?”
“Why?”
“Because I said so. Now come on let’s go.”
We walked down to the school garage for the car my father bought me for my sixteenth birthday. It’s a little red convertible two-door. I folded down the top and we climbed in. I pulled out of the parking lot and cursed down the drive. Once we hit route forty-five I hit the gas pedal and we got up to about eighty miles an hour. Cinderella laughed and threw her hands up in the air. Yep, this is it. Breeze in your hair, best friend in the seat next to you. Tunes playing at top volume, nothing could be better. It’s about an hour to the nearest town, a small place, only one road with all the shops on it. The street was paved with brick and all the shops were close together. I parked in front of a little boutique. A small place that had dressed in the front window. We went in and I smiled this place is perfect. I started pulling everything that I liked. Once I had an arm full I hung them up in the dressing room and shoved Cinderella inside.
"Now put on a fashion show for me.”
