It was a warm fall morning in the city of Boston. The sun was rising, the birds were chirping, the wind was blowing, and leaves were flowing through the wind. The streets were busy with buses, cars, and trucks. Pedestrians flooded the sidewalks and crosswalks trying to make it to work on time. Constant horns were going off from cars in frustration. When suddenly an alarm started to go off. A groan of aggravation and tiredness came from the man sleeping in his hotel room. He flipped over and slapped his hand onto the alarm clock stopping the constant beeping that was coming from it.
The man slowly opened his eyes and rubbed the crust out of the corner. He got out of bed turned on the television to the news station and walked to the bathroom where he looked in the mirror. He felt his cheeks and chin then went into a cabinet and pulled out a razor. The man began to shave. He then hopped into the shower, cleaned himself and came out of the shower. He began to brush his teeth and in the background he heard the news reporters voice, so the man walked out and looked at the television. “There has been another incident in eastern Rhode Island where a man bit Four policemen. The enraged person managed to take 7 shots to the chest until an eighth shot to the head managed to kill the him. Authorities are still looking into what may have caused the man to enrage and also how he managed to walk after being shot several times in the chest.”
The man went back into the bathroom, spit out the toothpaste and got dressed. As the man parted his hair to the right, he looked at the television and turned it off. He grabbed his satchel and left his hotel room. The man looked at his watch, it read 7:56AM and he realized he was running very late. He started to run pass people and across a crosswalk that was red. A car stopped short as it almost hit him and beeped very loudly, “Get out of the way asshole!” yelled the driver of the car. “I’m sorry!” yelled the man in a panicked voice and continued to run across the street. The man took a shortcut through a nearby park where there were families sitting, dogs playing fetch, and kids running around enjoying the morning. The man was running so quickly that he didn’t realize his satchel got caught on a tree branch and ripped spilling everything out. “Oh son of a bitch!” Yelled the man to himself, “how could this day get any worse?”
The man picked up his papers and continued through the park. He entered into Harvard University’s college campus. The man ran into a building, went down a corridor and entered into a big lecture hall that held over 150 students. Everyone stared at the man as he slowly walked down the stairs. At the podium in front of the classroom was an older man who was fat, bald, had a grey beard, and a pair of glasses. On the podium was the nameplate “Professor Franklin”. As the man walked up to Professor Franklin he began to talk to him.
“I’m sorry I’m late Professor.” Professor Franklin looked at the man and smiled, “Why that’s quite alright, I have actually just finished taking the attendance for the class.”
Professor Franklin turned to the class and started to speak to them. “Okay class today we have a lecture from a real archaeologist, He is going to talk about what he does, how he does it, and the dangers of what can come from a career like his. Can we all please give a round of applause for Doctor Jack Williams.”
The class began to clap as Jack walked to the podium and started to talk.
“Thank you everyone. As your professor said, my name is Doctor Jack Williams, and I am going to tell you about what I do, the adventures of an archaeologist, and the survival tricks you can pick up while you're on the job.”
Jack began to talk about his life as an archaeologist and everything he has gone through, as well as the tricks he has learned in order to survive. While the guest of the class went over his occupation, a student started coughing a lot. When he looked down he noticed there was blood on his notebook. The student quickly packed up his things, stood up and left the classroom. Jack thought nothing of it and continued to talk about his life.
The intercom suddenly started to play and a voice came through. It was the dean of the school saying the campus is now on a lockdown do to an emergency in the hallway.
EMTs rushed into the University and surrounded the student who was coughing up blood. He was passed out on the ground. The EMTs went to put him on a stretcher when the student started to freak out and scratched 2 of the EMTs and bit another. They managed to strap him up and put him into the ambulance and drove away. The intercom started to play again saying that the situation has been dealt with and that because of the situation, classes have been cancelled for the rest of the day.
The class stood up cheering and left the lecture hall. Jack stood there in shock because the whole class left. Jack whispered “oh well” to himself and packed his stuff and left back to his hotel room. Later that night Jack heard a knock on the door and a voice said “delivery.” Jack opened the door and he saw a man who was about 5’7, had black hair, and looked latino, holding 2 Taco Bell bags.
“That will be $37.35”.
Jack felt his pocket for his wallet but couldn't find it. Jack groaned in frustration, “I'm sorry, come on in I think I left my wallet in my room.”
Jack let the man into his room while he looked for his wallet.
The man put down the food in the table and looked at the T.V where the news was on. The news reporter was talking about an Ambulance that showed up at the Boston Medical Center Hospital and everyone inside of the ambulance was dead. And that the only thing that was found was a boy around the age of 21 who had bloodshot eyes, pale skin, blood coming out of his hands and mouth, and he was eating an EMTs chest. Cops were called up and the boy lunged at them scratching a couple of cops and bit another officer. Gun shots started to fire but the boy wasn't going down. Eventually a cop shot the boy in the head and he fell.
The cops were all brought to the emergency room to get checked out on the scratches and bites. Jack finally came out of his room. “I found it!” Jack said with a little bit of excitement in his voice. Jack looked at the tv with the delivery boy. “Crazy, isn't it?” Jack said to the man. “Sure is” Jack looked at the delivery boy and started to talk more. “What's your name?” The boy looked at Jack and responded. “My name is David, what's your name?” Jack responded to David, “I’m Jack. How old are you? You seen a little young to be working” David laughed for a minute and began to talk more. “No, I get that a lot but I'm Sixteen. I can legally work” Jack laughed a bit and apologized for assuming. Jack gave David the money and said thank you for the food. David took the money and said “your welcome, and have a good night.” David left the room, Jack took his food and turned the T.V back on. The news reporter was in the middle of a sentence but the reporter said “that authorities are telling everyone to stay indoors until this situation is resolved.” Jack ate his food while he finished watching the news, when he finished his meal he turned his TV off and went to bed.
A few hours later Jack woke up to a loud noise coming from outside. Jack looked at the clock and it read 2:36 am. Jack looked outside to see police cars speeding past and heard gunshots in the distance. He looked into the distance to see an explosion come from a building and then smoke and fire light the air. Jack looked back down and saw more police cars zoom. Jack watched and saw a car lose control and smash into a building across the street. Jack put on his clothes as fast as he could and rushed downstairs, thru the huge stampede of people running in the opposite direction from where the police were heading, and across the street To the car that crashed into the building. “Are you okay?!” Jack yelled frantically, as the man who crashed was halfway out of his windshield. The man turned and tried to bite Jack, but Jack backed up quickly. The man slowly crawled thru the windshield and off of the hood of the car. He stood up and slowly walked towards Jack, the man was moaning and growling. The man had bloodshot eyes and a piece of flesh missing from his neck. Jack remembered the stories he saw on the T.V then suddenly Jack heard a loud screech. He turned to the right and was hit by a car trying to break. Jack saw a blurry vision of the old man walking at him, the man crouched to Jack and was about to bite his throat when he heard a gunshot. The last thing Jack saw was blood splatter on his face, and the body of the man fall ontop of him. As Jack blacked out, he began to get dragged away from the street.
