Before the final bell rang, it was just her and Elijah alone again. Cecilia was sitting on the swing with Elijah next to her.
"That was pretty hectic," Elijah said.
"Just a little," She said.
"So Sillie usually gives Leon a ride home from school," Elijah said, "I mean, needless to say, we're going to be seeing each other a lot."
He had emphasized "a lot".
"Oh," she simply said.
"Cheer up, Cece," Elijah smiled.
"My face hurts," she said.
He laughed, "you're so funny."
Funny was not a word that was used that often to describe her.
The bell rung.
Moments later kids came running out of the school.
Leon and Sillie walked up to them hand in hand.
There was a line of cars and students with teachers escorting the children to their parents.
Sillie reached for Elijah's hand and Leon did the same for Cecilia's hand.
This warmed her heart.
"Your father is here!" Leon exclaimed.
Cecilia let herself be lead as Elijah started walking to a long black car, a limousine. A man with black hair and black slacks with a gray colored bottomed up shirt was standing at the opened door. He looked very polished.
He smiled as he saw the two kids walking up to the limo.
"Hey guys!" he said.
"Hi, Father!" Sillie said.
"Hi, Mr. Valiant!" Leon said.
"Come in, come in," he waited till they were in the limo before climbing in himself.
"He's actually a pretty cool dad. He makes sure he spends time with Sillie everyday after school. She's his only child," Elijah whispered to her, "he's the CEO to one of the biggest solar power companies and as you know, a lot of things in the human world now a days are ran from solar energy."
Cars and houses were an example.
"Good for him," Cecilia said.
"He usually reads to her. It's her favorite activity," he said.
"Would you guys like something to drink?" Mr. Valiant asked the children.
"No," Leon said.
"No what, Leon," Cecilia said.
"No, thank you. Sir," Leon corrected himself.
Cecilia nodded and then looked back at Elijah, "reading is a good activity."
"Did you just..." Elijah had a small smile on his face.
"Manners are very important," Cecilia said.
"I agree," Elijah said.
"How is your father, Leon," Mr. Valiant asked.
"He is fine. Today is his off day so we're probably going to get ice cream and eat hot dogs," Leon said with a toothy smile.
"How retro," Mr. Valiant said, "it sounds like a lot of fun."
"It is, sir," Leon said, "I like when Papa has his off days."
"Will he be off for Christmas?" Mr. Valiant asked.
"He has not told me yet," Leon said.
"Well, if he is or not, you and your family are more than welcome to celebrate Christmas with us," Mr. Valiant said.
Sillie clapped her hands, "Yay!"
"Wow! Thank you, sir!" Leon's eyes light up and he turned his head to Cecilia with the biggest smile.
Seeing him so happy made her happy.
The limo stopped in front of Leon's small house.
"Thank you for the ride and everything else, Mr. Valiant," Leon said as he grabbed his backpack.
Cecilia saw him squeeze Sillie's hand before letting go.
"I will see you tomorrow, Sillie!" he said.
"Bye, Leon!" Sillie smiled.
The door opened and a man in a black suit helped Leon down.
"Good bye, Elijah. It was nice meeting you," Cecilia said.
"Likewise. I will see you tomorrow," Elijah said.
She went to follow Leon out of the limo.
The driver closed the door behind her. Leon reached for her hand and together they walked into the house.
The house was empty.
"Where is everyone?" Cecilia asked.
"They are probably getting food for dinner," he said.
"You usually come home alone?" Cecilia asked.
"Sometimes," he said.
"That doesn't freak you out?" She asked him.
He was walking to the kitchen. He sat down on the stool and grabbed an apple from a bowl on the counter.
"Let me wash that," she grabbed the apple from him and walked over to the sink. She turned on the sink and rinsed off the apple.
"You can interact with things from my world?" He asked.
"Your very observant. That's good. Yes I can," she said.
"So if Papa walked in, he would see a floating apple?" He asked.
"Papa would see nothing wrong. You would be sitting down in your seat. The apple would still be in the bowl, or in your hands," Cecilia said.
"How does that happen?" He asked.
She used a towel to wipe the excess water off the apple.
"Magic," she tossed the apple at him. The apple bounced in his hands before he caught it.
"Really?" He looked amazed.
"Magic" was the very simplified version. The whole situation was more complex than he needed to know.
In order to understand, one would have to understand the Worlds themselves.
The Imaginary World was a branch of the Upper World, or what humans call "Heaven". There were three main Worlds. Upper, Human, and Under. Then there were two half Worlds. Imaginary and Shadow.
The Upper World was where He and His angels stay. The order goes from Him, archangels, guardian angels, and then angels that were once human.
The Imaginary Friends were a branch of guardian angels who specialized in the innocent. The job was so big, they were given their own World.
The Shadow World was a branch of the Under World where a majority of sins, demons and tainted humans lay. The Shadow World was different than the Under World since living humans could access it. Only deceased could enter the Under World.
The Upper World had attempted to shut down the Shadow World multiple times but had to realize that the Worlds naturally had to balance themselves out. Since there was a good, there had to be a bad. The Imaginary World could not survive with out the Shadow World. The Upper World could not survive with out the Under World.
The only neutral was the Human World.
The Under World was where Lucifer and his demons, sins, and tainted human souls stayed. However, it was hard to keep them down there. There were pockets in the layers where the sins and demons were able to pass in between the Lower, Shadow, and Human World.
Since demons and sins wanted their presence to be known, all humans could see them if scared enough. Only the innocent were sensitive to all other Worlds, making them a key target for the demons and sins.
As said before, the Worlds balance out. Since non innocent humans were not sensitive enough to see the Angels, the World would cover it up. To them, nothing would seem out of the ordinary.
To Leon, all of this would be summed up as "magic".
"Cece," Leon bit into his apple.
"Yes, my child," Cecilia leaned on the counter, "do you want me to cut the apple into pieces?"
"No...ma'am," he shook his head.
"What is it, then?" she asked him.
"I have been thinking. Sillie has had her Friend for months now. Why am I only meeting you now?" He asked.
He was smart. Too smart for a four year old boy. Was this how her parents felt with her and John?
"Now is the perfect timing," she answered.
"Perfect timing for what?" He took another bite.
She looked at him and smiled, "Friendship."
He threw the apple at her and she easily caught it with her left hand.
"Wow," he looked at her with an open mouth.
"Why did you throw this?" She asked.
"I wanted to see how fast you could move," he said.
She handed the apple back at him. Before he could grab it out of her hand, she pulled it away.
"It is not polite to throw things. If I give this back at you, you need to promise you won't throw it. Or anything else," she said.
"Can I throw a baseball, or a basketball, or a soc-"
She cut him off, "you know what I mean."
He laughed, "I promise."
She gave him back the apple and he continued eating it.
"Do you like apples?" He asked.
"Red ones," she said.
The apple in his hand was green.
"Why?" He asked.
"Green is too sour."
"I like green more."
"I can see that. Leon I have a question for you," Cecilia said.
"Yes?"
"Who is Sillie to you?"
"What do you mean?"
"Is she your friend. Your girlfriend?"
"Yuck," Leon made a face, "she's not my girlfriend."
Cecilia smiled, "she's not? But you're always holding hands."
"I help her walk around," he said.
"You were holding her hand in the limousine. She was not walking at the moment," she said.
He shrugged his shoulders, "I guess I forgot to let go."
She smiled at his kinds words when she saw Victors name come across her vision.
From Victor.
His name is Lincoln Connors. He is four years old, the same as Leon. I will be meeting him tomorrow morning. We are not in the same city but I did look it up and we are a five hour drive away. Of course, it's not like we drive. It's just a fun fact, I guess. Okay, I'm rambling on. How was your day? Is Leon everything you hoped he would be? Have you meet other Friends? I hope you're having a good time. Message me back when you can. Love you.
"Why are you smiling?" Leon asked.
"Oh, sorry. I was reading a message from my friend," she said.
"Your boyfriend?" Leon teased her.
"Shut it," she reached over and lightly pushed him. He laughed and continued eating his apple.
Text Victor.
Leon is great. He is really smart and acts older than his age. He plays well with others but chooses to be by himself sometimes. He is good friends with a girl nicknamed "Sillie", what a cute name. Sillie has a Friend named Elijah Blue. I don't know what I think about him, yet. I'm excited for you and your first assignment. I hope Lincoln is a good kid. Do you remember Blue Storm from the Academy? Her child goes to the same school as mine. That's a fun fact. Let me know how your first encounter goes. Love you, too.
Send.
"What's his name?" Leon was done with his apple.
"Victor," she said.
He stood from his stool and walked over to the trash can to throw the core away.
"Is Victor nice?" He asked.
"You would like him," Cecilia said.
"Do you miss him?" Leon asked, "you look like you miss him."
"It's only been a day," Cecilia tried smiling but realized that Leon was right.
It was the first day they did not see each other in fifteen years.
Leon touched her hand and gave her a smile.
Cecilia squeezed his hand.
