Slowly and hard to decipher, memories climbed up in her mind.
„Daddy!“, called the tiny and skinny girl out, while running towards her father.
„I just saw him again!“
She was out of breath, but still grabbed her Dads hand and tried to pull him in the direction she had just come from.
„The strange Boy with the gray Eyes! Come on, he´s right over there!“
But the Man didn´t give in to his persisting daughter, instead, he picked her up and put her on his shoulders.
„I´m sure you are talking about a Forrest Ghost.“
He whispered conspiratorially while carrying her into the opposite direction of where they came from.
„A Forrest Ghost? You mean the ones, the Villagers talk about?“
„The Forrest Ghosts are here to look out for us, Jamie.“
The little girl was wide-eyed. And then she said, full of childish confidence,
Jamie´s head hurt and the ghostly Memories faded from her view, without her grasping what the little girl - what she had answered back to her Father.
„Help me.“
The Forrest Ghost tried to reach out for her, but failed, crouching down in pain.
„Jamie, Please.“, he managed to say under his breath.
Had they been there for her when her Father had suddenly disappeared? Had they helped her then, brought him back?
Jamie shook her head in disbelief. What exactly should that random Forrest Ghost have done to help her? It was not like they owed her anything. And she wouldn´t just leave him here to be eaten by animals. Jamie didn´t do things like that.
She grabbed his hands a little more gruffly than necessary and tried to pull him up.
He was heavy and she spit out some unladylike curse words. Then she tried to lift him up holding him under his armpits, but failed once more. His wound started bleeding again and he looked embarrassed by his helplessness, trying to move on his own.
The Pain was written straight across his Face when he finally got up. He couldn´t help but lean on her to not fall right back down.
Hopefully his Wound wasn´t internally. All their efforts would just make it worse. Jamie tried not to think of it. Even if that was the Case, leaving him here wouldn´t be a rosier option
She started walking, slowly and carefully. He didn´t say a word, just heavy breathing, but when she looked at his face, his eyes were glassy from the Exertion and Sweat ran down his nose.
At least he wasn´t possibly any danger to her anymore.
They slowly made their way up the Hill surrounding the outscirts of the Forrest. The Grass gingerly bowed in Waves following the wind, while they reached the top of the Hill.
Jamie looked up to her wooden hut that stood lonely apart from the rest of the Village. It felt like they had a million miles left to cross, and she sighed heavily. She felt the Stare of the Forrest ghost and collected herself again.
With a lot of breaks in between, they finally arrived at her doorstep. He broke down beside her when she let go of him to unlock the door, and she had to drag him in.
She looked around and quietly tried to figure out where to bring him.
Since she didn´t want to be surprised while sleeping, so she decided to pull him into the Room she used as living/dining room and as a kitchen.
She dropped him on the Carpet, took a few deep breaths and then crouched down beside him to give him a second, closer Look.
The wound was on his belly, only sparely hidden by his strange Top, A Jacket made from a soft Material she didn´t know. It looked similar to Linen. He didn´t wear anything else on his upper body, and his long legs were naked, he was only covered by very short Shorts, the kind that usually only Girls would wear.
Jamie picked up a part of the Vest to take a closer look on his Wound, interrupted only by his surprised and pain inflicted Gasp.
It was a big Cut following the muscles from his Breast down to his Bellybutton. As though someone had tried to cut his stomach open.
„How did this happen? Do you think I should try to stitch it?“
She observed as he slowly opened his eyes again. He mumbled a few Words in a Strange language, and bit on his own lip.
"It´ll heal by itself. Our healing powers are stronger than Human ones.", he finally replied without any recognizable accent.
