It’s been about a week since Chace joined the group. He joins us at lunch and dinner and we meet up at our secret spot after class ends. Over the past week Meli and Chase have gotten closer, she really seems to like him. Sigh… it’s getting closer to October and things are getting worse. Students are yelling at each other and getting into fights in the halls. Teachers are getting into it with other teachers and students. The students who haven’t been effected are a small percentage compared to the ones who have. We need to find the sea people and the shifters. First of all who are the sea people and who are shifters?
It’s Friday afternoon and Gavin, Meli, Hayden and I are hanging out at our spot.
“We need to find the sea people. But how?” I said wondering aloud. Chace fingered his necklace and sighed.
“I think we need to take a trip.” He wouldn’t say any more than that. We went back to the school and Chace called his parents. He made all the plans he even called all of our parents and talked with all of our teachers. We don’t know how he convinced them or what he said to them but the next thing we knew we were packing a bag and going on a weeklong trip. We took a two hour boat ride to Clifton and from there took a van to Dublin. From there we boarded a charter plane for a thirty two hour flight to Chase’s family’s privately owned island. When we finally got off of the small plane our butts, backs, legs, and heads were sore. A van waited for us, tired and grumpy we climbed into the van. Thirty minutes later we pulled up to a very large beach house. It was made completely of white stone. Oak wood was used for the doors, awnings and balconies.” The house was beautiful, hardwood floors went all through the house. The living room was wide and open. Two big comfy couches sat in the middle of the room angled towards the fire place. A large bookshelf covered one wall while another wall was nothing but glass.
We dropped our bags in the living room and followed Chace on a tour of the place. The kitchen ceiling was glass along with the wall that looked outside. The walls were painted white, a large island sat in the middle of the room. Bench seating was built into one side, a marble table was placed in front of the bench with three silver stools around the rest of the table. The top floor has three bed rooms each with their own bathrooms. Two of the bed rooms have two beds while the master only had one.
“I already have room assignments so before you go upstairs let’s grab our bags.” Chase said. We grabbed our bags and headed up the stairs. “Hayden and Lily you two get the master bedroom.” The master bedroom is painted a pale blue color, a large bed took up the middle of the room. White fluffy sheets covered the mattress, a dark blue dresser and two dark blue side tables on each side of the bed. A seashell lamp sat on each of the tables. Hayden and I set our stuff down in the room and headed with the others to see the rest of the rooms. The room next to the master was long with two queen size beds. Brown sheets covered each bed, a big screen TV hung on the wall across from the beds. “Gavin this will be our room.” Chace said setting his stuff on one of the beds. The last room was at the end of the hallway. The last room was smaller but still amazing. The room was painted light blue, a blue striped rug covered the floor. The room has two full size beds, white sheets covered the beds. A green chair sat in the corner of the room next to a white table and a blue painted dresser. “Meli and Cara this will be your room.” After the girls set their bags down I turned to Chase.
“Okay Chace it’s time to explain.” I said to him.
“Explain what?” we all looked at him.
“What are we doing here?” Gavin said
“Why you have your own private island?” Cara added. Chace walked over and sat on one of the beds.
“My family is very wealthy and likes to flaunt it. My parents bought this beach house years ago as a vacation home. I lived here for nine years with one of my sisters. A couple of years ago when I was about six I went exploring around the island. A storm rolled in, the sky turned black and the waves crashed onto the beach. I hid under a little rock cave to wait it out. I’m not sure how long I was there for but when the storm broke I went out to the beach and found a young girl about my age washed up on the shore.” he looked deep in thought, remembering everything that happened that day.
“She was beautiful. Her short brown hair was pulled up into pigtails, she wore a purple top that wrapped around her chest leaving her stomach showing. When I looked down at her legs I was taken aback. Where legs should have been was instead a long blue tale. I kneeled down in the sand and touched her tail, finding it soft and strong. When the girl opened her eyes she looked right at me. I smiled at her and helped her sit up in the sand.” Chace got up and walked out onto the balcony. Looking out over the ocean he finished his story. “Her name was Avalon and she’s been my best friend since that day. About four months ago my parents sent a butler to come get me and take me home. That was the least time I saw her.” Chase sighed, he missed Avalon a great deal and he wondered if she missed him too. “She can help us.” All we have to do is find her, Chase thought.
After our talk with Chase we all went back to our rooms and unpacked. After all the traveling we did I was tired. I walked into the bathroom to put my toiletries and take a long hot shower. The bathroom was amazing, long wooden shelving went along one wall two white glass bowls sat on top. Two golden rimmed mirrors hung on the wall in front of the sinks. The bathroom was stocked with towels and soaps. The shower was completely made of marble. I hung my towel off the gold hook outside of the shower and turned on the water. After closing the wooden double doors that led to the bedroom I started to strip. Tossing my stale clothing into a pile I stepped under the waterfall of water. I couldn’t help but moan, the hot water felt wonderful on my sore muscles. I thought about everything that I learned today and got dizzy. I let my head dip back in the water letting it rinse out the fruity scented soaps. When I was all washed and my skin had turned bright pink I stepped out of the shower and slipped into a white fluffy robe. I need a nap. I walked out of the steam filled bathroom and crawled into the fluffy white sheets on the bed, falling to sleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
