Once upon a time Alisha had been happy; but then her fairytale took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up as another sad story, as so many others had. Everything that could go bad did, and all that could hurt her would come to be, as if she had been cursed to live a life of pain and misery by a wicked old witch.
The color of her skin was somehow wrong, her sexuality was spat on, her gender the weaker sex for some unknown reason, her mental health ignored and her personality either too erratic or too quiet - no way, no how, was she ever ok, as if human beings should only come in one color, one sexuality, one gender. Conforming to society’s norms and views, disregarding history and science, that was the way to go apparently. That was fine though, she wasn’t alone in that struggle, that was just a part of her fairytale.
Things change, people that shouldn’t die do, and then someone is left without a home to go back to; feelings fester and spread, and nothing is ever the same again.
The world used to be so colorful, but not anymore, now it was grey and monotonous, and her heart had since long been asleep. Still, she tried, just for a chance of a tiny speck of color in her tomorrow. Alisha would fight for her chance at happiness, even in that cold and grey world, but then again the fairytale had come alive once more, and she had found color in another world.
A world where things were different, and she was something more, somewhere she wasn’t less just for being who she was; a world where she saved a pretty girl that made her smile and had soft hands, someone that promised to protect her - words she hadn’t heard in so many years. Wyvern already felt more like home, than Earth did, and Alisha wasn’t sure she wanted to leave, but she didn’t know if she belonged here.
Looking at Katie, Alisha wondered how her future would be, and knew that the more time she spent with the harder it would be to leave her.
Night had fallen and they were still in the forest, still a bit to go Katie had said, insisting they sleep out in the open because the darkness was filled with danger, and so Alisha had obviously agreed - she loved the stars anyway, so it would be nice.
Katie was preparing to make a fire, so Alisha asked, “Want any help?”
Smiling, with a certain glint in her eyes, Katie answered, “Wanna see something super cool?”
“Yes…?”
As soon as the wood was in its place, Katie spread out her hand and suddenly there was fire - literal fire coming out of her hand - and she softly touched the wood, making it ablaze. It was unbelievable, and for the first time it sunk in that powers were actually real, and incredibly beautiful with the possibility for great destruction.
“You’re amazing.”
