Where was Jack? I mean not that I care.. she thought. She had to ask him something. Important. After Kalmen had told her to not follow he and Jack, she didn’t get to finish the handshake. Which angered her. And she hates it when she gets interrupted.
But she had to finish the handshake. She checked in his room before. He wasn’t there. But now maybe he had come back. So she would check there.
When called him on the other side of the shelter, Jack stood in the shelter. Glaring at her. I wonder why he’s looking at me like that She thought.
She pushed that aside and asked him what he had been doing. He continued to glare. “Should I leave?” Adina asked. He just kept glaring at her. “Ugh..” she sighed. After a moment she realized she made it worst. “Never mind, sorry for bothering…” she then said and left.
~~~
Jack continued to glare after Adina left. It wasn’t that Jack had hated her, it was the fact that he needed to be alone. He sighed as he stopped glaring. He then started thinking of Kalmen as a suspect, for murdering Fa.
Thinking about this made him hungry. There was nothing in the room that he could eat. He didn’t have anymore strips of whale meat with him. But he felt famished.
He peeked outside, seeing Adina sitting on the grass across from his shelter, picking at the sharp thorns of the rose. Once, she heard him she stood up and scurried away. He wondered why, but his main focus was on food. He didn’t know this place, though it was small, but heavily guarded. He first had to get some food.
Or he’d die of hunger.
