Katie seemed surprised by Alisha’s genuine comment, and for the first time since they met she was the one blushing.
“Thanks, I try.” she joked, trying to hide her awkwardness.
It was refreshing seeing someone she thought was cool and badass, turn super cute. Honestly, Alisha was kinda - totally - crushing on her, and it wasn’t how fair how much Katie was the complete package. The pretty smile, the strong arms, the kind hands, the dark soulful eyes, how funny she was, adorable, so nice...she was too much, and Alisha wasn’t sure how much longer until her heart exploded from her chest - they had just met, why was she like that!
“Anyway, we have a long walk ahead of us tomorrow, so maybe we should get some sleep.” Katie stretched, and lied down on the grass.
“Yeah, we probably should.”
She was tired, her body heavy and her mind hazy, Alisha really needed the rest, even if the ground wasn’t super comfortable - she had slept in worse conditions anyway. Eyes closed, it didn’t take long for sleep to overcome her. She found herself in an immense darkness, it was cold and terrifyingly quiet, completely isolated from everything.
Scared, she forced herself to open her eyes, feeling disoriented she noticed where she was, and tears fell. No longer was she in Wyvern, no longer could she see Katie nor feel her touch, no, she was back on earth. It had all been a dream, silly and impossible, even if it felt more real than this crappy life.
She was alone, once again reality set in and Alisha forced herself to feel numb, she couldn’t waste time on dreams. She needed her strength to deal with the day ahead, even if she didn’t want to get out of her bed, she knew she had to.
Suddenly, it felt like her head was splitting apart, as if it was being pulled in different directions at the same time, it was the worst headache she had ever had - it was absolutely excruciating. It wasn’t enough that her hurt was basically crying out for someone that didn’t even exist, of course not, she had to actually be in physical pain. Alisha wasn’t big on believing in Gods, and all that stuff, but someone up there was bent on making her suffer, she just knew it.
Looking at the clock, she saw she still had time so she forced herself to go back to sleep, maybe the pain would pass then - she hoped. It was hard to fall asleep, with her brain almost exploding and all, but eventually she managed.
Alisha was back in the darkness, but now there was fire in the distance, calling to her, she could almost hear her name - it felt so familiar, it was weird. Still, she couldn’t help but walk towards it, and before her brain could tell her to not to touch the big scary fire, she touched it and surprisingly instead of getting burned, she woke up.
Katie was standing over her, shaking her awake and calling her name, and Alisha had never been more scared in her life.
