Owen~ June 9
I had heard that pissing off an Alpha was never a good idea. Interaction with Roman, whether I was the one initiating it or not, did precisely that.
I had yet to move from my spot at the end of the couch as Roman sat down beside me with some medical supplies. Kane, fully dressed once again, came over and sat on the edge of the coffee table in front of us. My mind was in chaos now. The wolf in me was ready to roll over and beg for mercy, but my human side had too much pride to bow down this person. Alpha or not.
But no amount of pride could keep me from shifting uncomfortably under the intense glare I was getting from him as Roman started saying something about my wound. He obviously knew nothing about the healing abilities a Lycan had. Though I hadn't looked at it, I could feel that it was almost completely healed.
"Owen?"
My eyes snapped to the red-headed human who was staring at me. His brows were drawn together, and he looked a bit worried. I blinked a few times before realizing he had asked me something.
"What?" I asked. Mentally cursing myself for how my voice came out. My jaw clenched when I heard Kane snicker at me. Roman shot him a glare before looking at me again.
"I asked you to take your shirt off so that I can check your injury." He glanced at Kane and me a few times then proceeded to tell Kane to go the hell away. Okay, so maybe he didn't quite say it like that.
"Kane," Roman started. "Can you go stand over there?" He said waving his hand.
The Alpha stared at the red-head with his jaw hanging open and eyes narrowing. "No. I can't trust that he won't try anything." Kane stated.
Roman gave me a quick once over then waved Kane off again. "He too scared to breath let alone trying to attack me. I think it's safe for you to give us some space." He stated.
"Good. He should be scared." Kane growled. "I'm staying here where I can keep a close eye on this mutt." I could feel his gaze on me, but I didn't dare raise my head to look at him.
Roman set his first-aid box down on the coffee table a little harder than necessary, making both the Alpha and me jump. He stood abruptly and clapped his hand on his friend's shoulder. "Kane," the man finally peeled his heated gaze away from me and looked up at Roman. "There is obviously something going on between you two. I don't know what exactly, but I do know that you're making him incredibly uncomfortable which is preventing me from checking his injuries. So for the last time, go stand over there until I say you can come back." He snapped as he pointed to the far side of the living room.
We both just stared at him. Did he really just order an Alpha to go stand in a corner? He was either incredibly brave or incredibly stupid. Even more surprising, Kane slowly got up and trudged over to the other side of the room like a pup that was just scolded. If he had been in wolf form, I'm sure his ears would have been splayed to the sides and his tail tucked between his legs. He crossed his arms with a huff as he grumbled under his breath.
Roman sat down beside me again and smiled, "Good boy." He said to Kane before turning his full attention to me. "Alright. Take your shirt off." He instructed me.
Feeling a bit cocky now that I don't have Kane breathing down my neck, I smirk at him. "Not even going to take me out first?"
Roman doesn't find my remark funny in the slightest as he narrows his eyes at me. "Ha ha very funny. Now take your shirt before I cut it off."
My lips press together to form a thin line as I look at the floor. "Okay, sorry," I mumbled before slowly moving to pull my jacket off followed by whats left of my shirt. I hiss at the dull pain that shoots through my abdomen. Roman helped me lift the shirt over my head and set it on the couch behind him.
"Lay back." He told me, and I did so.
"You don't have to do this." I tried to tell him, but he either didn't hear me or chose to ignore me. He carefully peels the bandage off and gasps when he sees the wound.
"That's impossible." He murmurs to himself.
I haven't seen it yet, but from his reaction, I can safely say I was right in thinking it was nearly healed. I peered down at my gunshot wound. The entry point of the bullet was healing nicely. I hated to say it, but it was probably thanks to Roman's skill with a needle that the wound had closed so fast. The skin around it was bright pink and healthy looking, giving me high hopes that I wasn't going to get an infection. There was still some blood smeared across my lower abdomen that had dried by now and was flaking off. I noticed that the front of the jeans I was wearing were stained a dark reddish-brown from the blood I had lost. Now that I saw it, I realized how stiff and uncomfortable the pants were and wanted nothing more than to take them off.
Ramon reached out his hand and brushed his fingers over the bright pink skin around the stitches. "It's hardly been twelve hours, and you're almost good as new." He mumbled to himself once again. His blue eyes focused intently on my injury like he thought he could my skin pulling itself back together. "How is this even possible? I get that you're not entirely human but, damn."
"Perks of being a Lycan." I shrugged.
"Amazing." He breathes with a small smile.

After a bit of convincing, Roman agreed that it would be alright to leave my injury uncovered. Then he suggested I take a shower. Which I quickly jump at the chance. Even Kane had agreed that I needed a bath.
So now I'm standing in the bathroom with the shower running while I slip out of my pants. I kicked them to the side, and I'm about to step into the shower when bathroom door swings open without warning.
My hands fly to my crotch to cover myself as I glare at the person who decided to waltz in on me.
Kane smirks at me. His eyes trailing up and down my body. I can feel my face heating up as he continues to stare without saying anything.
"What do you want?" I snap turning away from him to get in the shower.
A hand touches my back, and I nearly scream as I jolt forward. "What the hell are you doing?!" I try to turn around and swat his hand away, but he catches my wrist and forces me to stay where I am. I feel his hand glid over my shoulder blade. I look over my shoulder up at him. "Hey! Wha-"
"What happened?" He suddenly asks.
I stare at him for a while before answering. The look in his eyes is entirely confusing. He looks... sad and... angry? I turn my head away from him and look at the floor.
"I was used as a guinea-pig by an organization of hunters." I started slowly. "They used me to find out anything and everything they could use to take down a Lycan. They tested the extent of my healing capabilities and found that our bodies can't heal wounds inflicted by intense heat."
As I talked Kane let go of my wrist and I allowed my arm to hang at my side. My other hand went up to grab my upper arm. His hand still lingered on my back while I waited for him say something. He suddenly dropped his hand and stepped away from me.
“How long were you there?”
I peered over my shoulder at him again for a moment before looking at the wall. “Long enough that I don’t remember hardly anything about my birth pack. I think I was five or six when they took me away.” I told him quietly.
“I’m sorry.”
I turned slightly and stared at the Alpha in shock. “What? Why?”
“For attacking you and treating you the way I did. I want to believe that you don’t have bad intentions towards Roman and me but you understand why I’m not so willing to trust you right?”
I gave a slight nod and turned back to look at my feet. “I get it. The safety of the pack comes first, right?”
“I’ll let you take a shower now. I brought you some of Romans clothes that he said you could have.” With that, he turned and left, closing the door behind him. The bathroom began to fill with steam now that it had nowhere to go.
I felt my face warm again as I realized we just had a whole conversation while I was completely butt naked. My face fell into my hands, and I groaned quietly before finally opening the shower door and stepping inside.
