Chapter 6

It was early in the morning. Birds were singing. Nait opened his eyes. A single tear fell down his cheek. He looked at the time.

Sometime later, Nait was walking on a sidewalk of a park. He had his hood over his head and his hands in his pockets. He observed the surrounding, the joggers, families, pets, and wild life.

“Excuse me, sir,” someone said.

Nait turned around and saw a friendly man with glasses approach him.

“Could you direct me to the donut shop around here?” the friendly man asked.

“Sure,” Nait answered. “Head north of here. The donut shop is beside a book store. You can’t miss it.”

“Thank you,” the friend man said.

“You might want to wait a while,” Nait said. “The donut shop doesn’t open until another hour.”

“That’s okay,” the friendly man said. “My wife simply asked me to meet her in front of the shop. We might be going somewhere else from there.”

A woman with blonde hair came to them. “Hey, honey,” she cheered. “I spotted you over here.” She gave the man a big hug and admired him with a grateful gaze.

“It’s so good to see you, Lolowfré,” the friendly man said.

“Thanks, again,” the friendly man said to Nait. The man and his wife walked away to happily enjoy the rest of their time together. Nait faintly smiled, remembering the man’s wife.

Nait wandered to a table and chair in the park to rest his legs. At the table was a young woman with some books stacked in front of her. She had her cellphone up to her ear.

“Is it alright if I sit here?” Nait asked.

“Go ahead,” the young woman said.

Nait sat down. He looked at the young woman and realized it was Velia.

Velia sighed.

“Is everything alright?” Nait asked.

“I’ve been trying to reach my friend,” Velia explained. “He hasn’t picked up. I really wanted to talk with him.”

“I can understand the frustration,” Nait said. “What are all the books for?”

“I decided to spend some time looking into the things of life,” Velia said. “I guess you could say I’m looking for truth, or perhaps, learning more about truth.”

“Sounds productive,” Nait said. “I took off work today to spend time collecting my thoughts.”

“I must say,” Velia smiled, “I’m coming across information I didn’t really know was out there.”

“Good,” Nait cheered. “I’m glad that’s going well for you.”

“How about you?” Velia asked. “How are things going with your day of collecting your thoughts?”

“It’s going extremely well,” Nait said. “I’m making a really big choice before the day is over. I realized God has been really merciful. Life truly is something to be humbly grateful for. Today, we all have another undeserved chance to get right with Him. Everyone with breath has the opportunity now to start following God and His way. Because of that, I know something now that I went most of my life without knowing. God truly is a good judge.
