I continued to sit there for a while before standing quietly and walking into the kitchen. I let out a long sigh as my energy depleted.
"What am I going to do?" I asked myself, rubbing my hands over my face. I stared at the ceiling, listening to the rain fall upon to roof.
How am I going to keep my promise? I thought to myself as I walked to my desk and sat down, opening my laptop. There's no doubt that she won't be able to paint anymore. What else could she do?
Just as I logged in, my computer updated me about all the emails I had received. I opened it and scrolled through them. Most of them were either scams or websites I signed up on, however, one email caught my attention.
It was from the Academy that Evelyn and I attended. I opened it when I saw that the subject was titled, Letter of Acceptance.
Dear Evelyn Dupont and Kaiden Brown,
Congratulations!
Your performance tonight has caught the attention of Monsieur Antoine Baschet, the most famous musician and Mademoiselle Marie-Hélène LaRue, the most famous artist, in France. They have contacted us, the staff of the Academy of Creativity, to inform us that they have chosen you to be apart of the Creative History Competition. This competition was created to further the careers that you both are pursuing while also doing something you love! Of course, like any competition there are rewards.
The first place winner will have their project/performance displayed in the Museum of Creative History for the future to see, along with a prize money of one hundred thousand euro and a chance to work with whichever judge they choose.
I stopped reading the email and stared at the amount that was displayed.
"One hundred thousand Euro?" I shook my head. "That's a ridiculous amount."
The second place winner will have the opportunity to have their project/performance displayed in the Museum for three months. There will also be a cash award of fifty thousand euro.
"Fifty thousand is still a nice amount," I commented as I continued to read.
The third place winner will receive a monetary award of twenty thousand euro and their project/performance will be displayed in the Academy of Creativity until the creators' graduate.
Evelyn Dupont and Kaiden Brown, the staff of the Academy of Creativity are overwhelmed and honored to have our students be chosen for this wonderful and career starting competition. Please be aware that joining will automatically get you a participation award, however, we at the Academy of Creativity push our students to strive for bigger things.
We advise you to join the competition and become the face of the Academy and the idols that other artists and musicians can look up to!
The rules and guidelines to join are listed in the attachment below along with the deadline and link to join.
Again, we at the Academy of Creativity are proud and can't wait to see what our wonderful students have in store for all of France to see! Good luck to you!
-Headmaster of the AOC,
Monsieur Berlioz
I read the email one more time before exiting out of it. The competition was the least important thing at the moment. My concern was only for Evelyn's condition. And so, for the rest of the night, I began searching for ways to help Evelyn become herself again.
