The energy inside her was bursting at the seams, with heart beating faster than ever, and her palms sweaty, Alisha was content on just being hugged by Katie instead of sleeping - she felt safe in her arms. It was weird, she knew it was, after all they had basically just met but this was no longer a silly crush on a pretty girl, it was something more - stronger.
In a world full of new and incredible - unbelievable - things, her newfound and undying feelings for Katie, were the hardest to believe and most fantasy like. She wondered if all her hardships had come to pass just so she could meet Katie, as if destiny itself had brought her here to be happy after all the pain.
Looking up at the sky, it was filled with stars, bigger and brighter than on Earth, with different hues of blue and yellow and red - they were beautiful. Maybe Alisha belonged in this world after all, she hoped she did, because it was full of things she loved and an extraordinary amount of beauty.
“Have you ever heard of Earth?” Alisha asked.
Without stopping stroking Alisha’s head, Katie looked at her face and answered, “Can’t say I have to be honest, as I said before I’m not the brainiac type and as much as I enjoy looking up at the stars, I’ve never found it much fun to learn about them nor about planets. That’s where you come from?”
“Yeah...and as awful as in can be, it’s also incredibly beautiful. Then again, it’s not the planet’s fault if humans are crap. Still, I loved looking at the stars and lose myself in the vastness of the universe, and contrary to you I quite enjoyed learning about it.”
Staring at Alisha’s eyes, Katie kissed her head and grinned, “Your eyes are like stars, they brighten my path in the darkest of nights.”
Blushing she couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of Katie’s words, “How can you say such cheesy things?”
“Alisha, babe, you need to understand I am who I am, and I will say the cheesiest and most loving words you’ve ever heard. Also, I really like making you blush; you’re too cute.”
“It’s because you’re like this that I didn’t take your flirting seriously, and thought you were just playing around.”
“...yeah, I can’t blame you for that, but then again you did flirt back sometimes, so I wasn’t sure how you felt about it.”
Her hands were rough against her skin, but Alisha relished in her touch nonetheless, she prayed for it and hoped Katie never stopped touching her. She could lose herself in the moment, in her arms, in her fiery and tender love.
“I still don’t know anything about you, but I feel like I’ve known you my whole life...and I don’t know how, but I,” Alisha swallowed and took a deep breath, before continuing, “I think I love you.”
A second passed, and then two, and Alisha was afraid she had screwed things up because Katie wasn’t responding, and so she looked up at her face.
Katie was crying - fierce, badass, warrior Katie, was silently crying, and Alisha’s heart squeezed at the sight. Wiping her tears, she wasn’t sure of what to say, but then through the tears Katie smiled, - so brightly Alisha thought she had died right there and then, and gone to heaven.
Caressing Alisha’s face, Katie tenderly kissed her lips, “Look who’s being cheesy now.”
“I guess you’ve rubbed off on me.” Alisha smiled.
She wondered why Katie cried, but figured that for now this was ok, they were ok.
