The Washingtons

The Beginning

The Beginning

Mar 31, 2018

Here's where this story begins:

We have five families known as the Washingtons, the Jeffersons, the Adamses, the Franklins, and the Hamiltons. Those families named themselves after several of the founding fathers of the United States of America. But it wasn't an easy choice for them, not since there had been a firebombing that had almost destroyed the United States back in 1865. (Which was at the end of the U.S. Civil War.)

But that particular story can be seen elsewhere.

Anyway, those five families consisting of freed slaves quietly lived in the area where Washington, D.C. was located (although several other families named themselves after the other presidents). At the same time, though, a young man named Isaac Cotton took the name Ishaan Washington and held his royal court in the city of Saint Louis, Missouri (which had survived the firebombing). Half of the Washington family lived in Saint Louis while the second half lived in a restored Washington, D.C. The Jeffersons lived near Richmond, Virginia while the Franklins stayed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, along with the Adamses. The Hamiltons, however, were content to remain in Washington, D.C., where they famously clashed with General Ulysses S. Grant, who ended up becoming president much to everyone's chagrin.

But let's hit the fast forward button to 2006, when a group of Atlanteans inadvertently changed history to save the world from a madman determined to rule over it. And here's where we begin this story...

* * * * *

We see Joshua Washington as he prepares to begin his day. Joshua was 30 years old, and he lived in Washington, D.C., where he worked as a clerk in the U.S. Capitol. His wife's name was Barbara Moore; they had four children named Caleb, Beverly, Ann, and Michelle. From the looks of it, Joshua enjoyed his simple life; he couldn't ask for anything better.

That was, until June 18, 2006.

On that day, Sean Trichenberg, Maverick Mobley, Jacquelyn Claire Ritterwolff, and Marika Yovenko were spotted wandering around New York. The cousins spoke of a world plagued with gods and monsters, a world they had barely escaped from.

No one could believe that there had been an attack on New York and Washington, D.C. on September 11, 2001. Not when the Twin Towers were still standing. Yet the villain following the cousins had come with the intention of destroying those towers in the way that Sean described, only to be stopped in his tracks.

But that wasn't all, as the cousins also discovered something else that the world they lived in had kept hidden. Mainly the fact that there had been a king in the United States since 1865, when the Civil War ended. That story began in 2005, when during a routine cleaning of the the Pentagon, the Washington Monument, the U.S. Capitol, and the White House, a series of documents were found. Those documents detail a secret the American government had kept hidden from the people, which consisted of the Atlanteans conquering the United States, setting up a former slave as king, and deporting many people from the United States. To say that many people living in the United States were angry that this secret was kept from them was an understatement.

Yet, Joshua was the most upset by this, as he discovered that he would be the next king of what would now be Columbiana. This frightened him, as we already saw him as a normal, everyday man who enjoyed his normal life and needed no surprises. And let's not mention how his family would react when they discovered that they were actually American royalty.

And you thought America didn't need a king.

Well, you thought wrong.
