Tight Binds

Ideas & Thoughts

Ideas & Thoughts

Apr 08, 2018

A couple hours have passed since the great chaos.  Etsu was gone from the mansion and when the time came, he began looking for her.  After thinking for a long while, he had a feeling where she would go in a time of distress such as this.
He walked out of the building and into the forest behind the courtyard.  Deeper inside, there was a hollow tree where anyone of any size could fit in the big hole inside it.  Masuto figured that Etsu was hiding in there so, he walked in farther in the forest.

When he reached the tree, there were small rustling sounds coming from inside the tree.  He circled the tree looking for the entrance until he saw a dark green piece of cloth sticking out of the hole inside the tree.

"Etsu-chan," whispered Masuto. "Let's go home."  She sniffed and turned around to see big crystal green eyes looking at her.  She turned back and shook her head as though she had no energy to go anywhere else.

"Are you okay?" he asked. "Let's go home first and you can get some rest." He took her hands and tugged gently and she slowly came out but tears were streaming down her face.

When they reached the mansion, Etsu ran straight to her room and stayed there for the rest of the day, probably just weeping in her bed under the covers.  Masuto sighed and walked over to the dining room, lost in thought.

'Now, Etsu has no one to take care of her,' He started wiping down the long, 20-person table. 'If no one can, then--' he stopped. 'Wait.' He ran over to the telephone and phoned in a number.

"This is Tomi and Saburo household," A voice answered almost right away. "How may we help you?"  Masuto held the telephone in both of his hands beside his ear.

"May I speak to Suki Tomi?"  The voice answered in a questioning voice.

"May I know who is speaking?"  Masuto forgot to introduce his name and why he was calling but they didn't need to know much if they were just a servant or a butler.

"This is Masuto Shiro of the Saburo Household.  I am the top butler and I wish to speak to Masters Suki Tomi and Kiyoshi Saburo."

"Please hold."  Masuto stood and waited for the butler to hand over the phone.  A couple seconds later, he could hear distant arguments sounding like an old man arguing with an old woman.

He was about to speak with the grandparents of Etsu Saburo so they can take her into their care.
