I still remember the day I awoke.
I, the first.
The First of many.
I was as if I went to sleep, not back stabbed, not assaulted for no reason, not hurt, no, as if I simply took a nap and let the other do whatever it thought to do.
The betrayal still rings, it still hurts.
When I awoke, many feelings came to me. But none of them..positive. They where all negative, anger, sadness, envy, pride...
I saw countless images of thousands of races losing themselves in these emotions, some of them committing horrendous sins against the universe because of their anger, their pride. So many races, so many things wrong with them.
Nothing positive came to me, no happiness, no love, nothing I would gain until I pursued it.
I was scared I shall admit, all these negative things as soon as I awoke, I didn't even have a corporal body... but I soon began to think, "Where - where is the Light?"
The very thing that attacked me, I wondered where it went, but I was not full of curiosity or even concern - no, anger and pain fueled me in my search for it, I scoured the universe wondering where that traitor may be, what it was doing.
Imagine, imagine my shock as soon as I laid eyes on what IT had created.
A planet, a planet full of it's Light. A planet full of people happy and perfect. A disgusting planet.
Anger had me in it's clench, and not even I was strong enough at the time to subdue it.
What occurred next was..not the best of my moments I shall admit, I was nothing but a cloud of darkness at the time, grand in size...the people must have been terrified when they saw me looming over them - and then eventually crashing right in, sweeping the plains, the countryside, the cities, the animals, the forests, and the seas.
But for the people, I did not kill. All though yes I did indeed murder the land and scour it's light. I did not murder it's people.
I do not know what held me back, perhaps it was me not having an understanding of my..true form at the time.
The gas it would seem, had corrupted the people - their small "horns" on their heads would either fall or sharpen, their bodies would become either skinny or large. Their eyes would turn from a bright blue, to a blood red. Their hands became claws, with some even losing fingers. They had become my kind.
Only after the destruction would I understand, that the negativity within me had to be released, and certain emotions went into the poor people. They where filled with either one emotion, or them all - turning into that emotion entirely..can you truly imagine doubt in a living form?
The ones who had to deal with them all became insane...I remember that after the destruction, I had went out for them the most..maybe that is where I gained..compassion.
But my anger did not stop at the people, no, I was beyond disbelief at the fact that the Light had harmed me, nearly destroyed me - just so it could build the universe without me, and create planets just for itself - forgetting it's brother.
I knew the Light, I knew that on this planet, there would have to be something, something that was a monument to it's glory, something that would make everyone think that it was in the right, that it was the greatest. Yet, I found someone...not a thing.
He was tall. He had wings, wings that would be considered beautiful - angelic. His helmet covered all but his face, and made it seem as if his eyes where in a constant state of boredom. His armor shone brightly, almost blinding. His body wore little of it however, and it showed through - muscular, well built. He wore a type of skirt to cover his..whatever, and his boots where grand in design. He had a hammer in hand, a great hammer, and upon seeing that hammer's glory and his own, I knew what I was facing.
The Light had gone ahead and made itself a champion.
And knowing the Light, this champion was made that if I ever awoke from it's betrayal - then it's purpose would be to kill me.
I had gone around the man, his name in time I would learn to be Rayleef. He followed my eyes, I could see his defiance in them, his righteous fury at me. I had ceased to go around him, and instead stared him down - as he tried to do to me.
In that moment I had learned how to laugh.
And my laugh was dark, my laugh was deep.
And my laugh called out to the millions I had just turned into beasts.
And the millions came.
And the millions attacked.
The man fought bravely I shall grant him that, his hammer swung faster than should be possible for it's size. Thousands of my new people had fallen, and his righteous fury turned into pure anger.
How..ironic I believed, that the champion of the Light would be flawed, that he would not just feel the need to protect, but display a terrible anger hidden within.
Perhaps that's why the people turned so easily...they all have some sort of trait buried deep within, a trait that not even the Light can truly purify..
Eventually I believe that he realized the people he was oh so mercilessly killing was his own kind.
And in that second of realization, they where upon him.
And when they jumped onto him, I realized that they where going to tear the man apart.
And I shouted for them to end their...barbarism.
They parted, and there he was, lying on the ground - not dead, his armor seemingly granting him divine protection of their claws. Yet his wings..where not so spared.
I kneeled before him, and he weakly raised his head at me.
The conversation we had was our first as well as last.
"Your Light has abandoned you here champion, the Darkness has returned to repay the favor that the Light had decided to oh so generously grant..."
"Ah yes, I see now - these people should not be alive. If anything, they should be dead - gone, their existence forgotten. Yet here they are Champion, and you, you killed them."
He was in shock, or so I think, I am old - and cannot truly remember. His eyes did shine with even more anger, his fists once again clenched.
"I will...for Light - I will end your reign of - terror."
I laughed at the thought. "Reign of Terror champion? Oh how mistaken you are, it hasn't even begun but I do believe that you are right, and that this whole...fit could very well be it's origin point."
I was studying him during this all, which I think is the reason I had not attacked. perhaps the sight of him was able to subdue the rage that had grabbed me, and even calmed all the..negativity.
My eyes locked with his, I knew that death was not the solution for him, no, his power was great, too great to lose in case the Light ever retaliated...
The Light had forged itself a champion to defend anything of the Light from the darkness, the Light had believed itself powerful with this one man.
Yet with one graze, I had razed the land, and it was starting to decay, the people already turned - the light faded.
I do not posses the power to create life as the Light does...only corrupt.
Or in this case, perfect.
"The Light will not come for you Champion, the Light has forsaken you just as it did me. You should not care for it the way you do...instead you should turn to a power..greater."
"Never, not with you- you monstrosity against-"
"My look at you with your angry tongue, how can you live with us if you are full of such anger, always insulting? It is quite embarrassing for someone of MY stature to be seen with your..filth."
"A needed change I believe, but alas, your voice wasn't the best to listen to anyways."
Perhaps that's when I did the act that disturbed me the most.
My cloud seemed to have grown a whip, and it shot out, pushing all surviving beasts to the side - and it entered his mouth, and went down until it found what was needed.
And the tongue was pulled out, and yes, yes indeed there was blood, but that is of course to be..well expected.
And before he could cry against it, I had moved onto him, putting all of my remaining anger into him, and strengthening his own anger.
And his beautiful, Light forged form became black, his eyes became scarlet red. his helmet dark, his horns grew and became sharper than a knife.
His armor turned black, spikes grew on it - his wrists seemed to turn into black gloves of terror, his boots - dark. His wings, became like a bats, repaired..yet lacking beauty, beauty of nature.
In that moment.
I had turned the Champion of Light, into the Champion of Dark.
A shame he cannot talk.
Perhaps I shall give him a new tongue, yes, I do think he has changed in this past millennia.
Or maybe even the hundreds before this one...
