I was in need of sleep and a bathroom. Using the bathroom seem more important than sleeping and I needed to fix some minor electrical problems in the ship's command. I needed to reconnect the helm to the ships Central control Panel. It was something I needed to do but I kept falling asleep. I got up from under the controls and I took a seat. I couldn't stay awake any longer.
I felt my body relax. Yet I was still awake. I could still hear everything going on around me. I felt something touch me. It felt warm and soft. I tried to open my eyes but then I heard a voice. “June relax it's just me Ava, sleep don't rush, it's good to sleep,” she said to me. I didn't want to relax and sleep but she was the doctor. So I stop struggling and listen to her. I felt her hold my hand. She had soft hands. Then I felt her hand run through my short black hair. It felt strange.
I wasn't touched starve, but I didn't like it when people touch me. It was always like that, even growing up I barely hugged my family. But I was too tired to do anything about it. I'm not going to lie it felt good.
When she stopped I heard another voice. “Hey what's going on… oh she's asleep,” said Peter or Matthew. “Yeah, I find her like that. It has been three days since the explosion happened and the stress is taking its toll on her,” said Ava. “But she is now first in command and we need her up, miles isn't waking up yet and he shows no sign of waking up,” said Peter. I hear someone sigh and I had to agree with them. I needed to wake up from this little nap I'm taking but my body refuses to do so.
I felt Ava hand in my hair again. But soon she pulled away. I wonder why. It felt good. Sleep was still with me but I wanted to stop this dance and wake up. I needed to finish fixing the controls and start repair in the ship's hull. I could hear everything around me.
Soon my body started to wake up. I thought to myself finally. Slowly opening my eyes I turn my head and saw Judy at my side. She was holding her pad and reading something. “Hmm, what are you reading?” I ask her. She looks up in surprise. “Go back to sleep June you need to rest,” she told me. I shook my head no and go up. The helm felt heavy. I went under the controls and open up the panel. I started wiring and patching up the electrical system. Some of the systems were fried and shot. I needed to get another wiring kit to fix it fully. I left the bridge with Ave hot on my tail. “Ava I need to fix the controls and find someone other than Matthew to fix the engine and people who would want to fix the hole in the side of their ship,” I said listing off things that needed to be done. But before I could finish my list she grabbed me and pulled me into her. “ I know but you need to sleep or you'll pass out or worst,” she whispers holding onto me. I knew she was worried about me but I need to do this. I need to be up but I also know that I need some rest. “Alright but I will fix the ships controls first then I'll get some rest okay,” I told her. She looks worried but she reluctantly agrees with me. She let me go but walked with me to cargo area 1A.
I knew where the wiring kit was and grab two an went back to the bridge. Ava was still worried about but I told her I would rest when I'm done. In the bridge, I start working on repairing the controls. It doesn't take me long three hours tops, however during that time I was called multiple times by different people trying to fix their ship so I stopped my work to answer their calls. I knew Ava wasn't happy but this is what I need to do now but I did promise her that I would get rest after I finish working on the controls. So when I was done I went to the captain's chair. Well, my chair now, I kicked up my feet and closed my eyes. I knew Ave would be happy. I felt her hand run through my hair then I felt something. She kissed me on the forehead. I open my eyes but all I saw was the door closing leaving me confused with her action.
I woke up about six hours later feeling somewhat refresh but still stressed. I double check the controls and the wiring I had done before. Everything was all good and running smoothly. I left the bridge to check on the other wiring around the ship. Some of the panels were loose or just completely off the walls and ceiling. I needed help in fixing these, I looked out the window and some pieces of the hull and cargo flowing about. I also saw something bodies frozen. I closed my eyes and said a silent prayer for them.
I walked away from the window to look for people to help me fix these panels and wiring. I walked through the halls of the of the ship and saw some people standing around with there tablets. “Hey guys I need some help fixing the wiring around the bridge and other areas of the ship,” I said to them. They looked at me as if they didn't want to. So I spoke up with more command in my voice and order them to do it. “Who the hell are you and who made you captain, last I check that was Clint Miles, not you,” said some dark-skinned guy with a southern accent. “Yeah I know but right now he is in med bay with a head injury and as second in command, it is my job to run this fucking thing,” I said and pointed to my collar to show my rank. They immediately got up and followed me to the area with the most wires hanging out. “We need to fix this so Matthew can connect the bridge to the rest of the ship, we were hit pretty hard and I can't do it all myself,” I said and they started to get to work.
I saw Matthew running, with four giant steps towards me. “June I fix the relay but I need to access the bridge to send a message out but when I try it wouldn't work,” said panting a bit. I curse, the bridge isn't getting a lot of power at the moment. I told Matthew was going on and he went to find some more people to help me fix this mess up. Then I got a call from the twins saying that they woke up about twenty-six people and most of them were for engineering. I told them as soon as there were able to put them to work, they both said okay and we're going to keep me updated. This day was long and it was only going to get long.
