After getting everything ready and set up for our trip back to REI, Claire walks up to me and handed me her Beretta. I took the weapon and check and clear the weapon. She had a proud look on her face and handed me a magazine and loaded it. It didn't take us long to get to the store. We clear it again to make sure it was safe, always clear a room and a building to make sure it is safe. After making sure it was safe we divided up gathering our supplies. We were halfway done when we decided to take a break. We all took out one can of food and I took out a can for Jade from her bag. It was quiet and I like it, it wasn't awkward it was just comfortable. Claire spoke up after a few more minutes. "So what were are all doing when this shit happen?" she asked us. I spoke up first." I was on my way to Barnes and nobles wanting to buy 50 dollars worth of books when I saw a women attack another one, I ran to pull her off of the women but I was too late, she had a bit into her, her neck to be more exact, I tried to stop the bleeding and I told her everything was going to be okay" I pushed. "She looks so scared so I wasn't going to lie to her, I told her when you're gone you won't feel this pain anymore and I watch the life slowly drain from her eyes, but before she was gone, she tried to tell me to thank you, at the time I didn't know why but I think I know why now, she wasn't going to feel pain anymore while we were" I didn't say anything more. It was quiet again until Jimmy spoke up "I was with my brothers" he said. " We were shopping for our dad, he wanted us to buy something to surprise our mother for her birthday, I wanted to get her this dress I saw but the others wanted to get her a ring" as he was talking I looked over to the other two. They seem to remember it clearly but you can also see the sadness. I knew they missed their family.

After Jimmy finishes his story, Claire spoke up next. "I was ending my shift after training some newbie, he was an okay guy but he was an ass, but he was one hell of a shot. "She looks almost sad. "A few days after all of this we finally got a break, we were training to help these people were about twenty of those growlers came at us. I was helping people into some boats while he was shooting. He was almost out so we switch. Then something exploded and brought more of those things." she paused again taking a deep breath, she looks as if she couldn't talk about it but I knew she had to in order to let it go. She took another deep breath again and continues. " After helping all the last person on board, we got separated, and I wasn't going to leave him, he was my rookie, I told those in the boat to leave, I went to find him, it was an hour later I find him hitting those things in the head, I fire my M16A9 to help him out, after everything was clear, we ran in case more of them would come, we ran until we couldn't anymore, that's when one of those things came from behind me and Hector, that was his name, push me out the way and got bit by it." She took another deep breath and whipped the lone tear the feel from her eyes. "I saw what he did for me, he just smile and said "I wouldn't have it any other way" he then took out his pistol and took his own life, I was alone after that killing those things and helping whoever I could until this crazy girl over there told me she knew my wife" she said with a small smile.

After eating, we finishing gather our supplies and left REI we took what we need and left thing for others who will need it just like us. It wouldn't be right to take everything when there weren't many of us staying at the school but in the long run, you can never be too prepared. We were making out back home when I saw someone or someone's coming our way. I stop and pointed to them. Claire notice where I was pointing and ready her weapon. I took out Max ready to fight. But when they got closer it looked to be a teen and a small kid. Maybe four or five and the other look to be sixteen. The boy was holding the little girl. The girl didn't look too good. As he got near I saw that she was bleeding. But it looks like the color of blood, but it was too dark. Oh no. She was bitten by one of those things and she was going to turn. Right, when I notice this, I began to run towards them but I was too late. That little girl stops moving and within seconds she took a bite out of the boy's face. He cried out in pain. I didn't hesitate to kill the little girl but when I turned my attention to the boy but I stopped. He was bitten, he was going to turn, and I had no choice. I didn't want to make it painful but beating him with my bat. So I took out the Beretta that Claire gave me and shot him between the eyes. Before I shot him, I saw a look I'll never forget. It was a look of relief and yet of pain. I walked away from the girl and the boy, both gone by my hand; I've never killed a living being before. I felt a hand on my shoulder but I didn't look up to see who it was. I was left standing there for a moment then Jade was by my side. I looked down at her and smile, she loved me no matter what and I love her too. I took a deep breath and walked to this odd group of people that I helped bring together. I just hope things will get better.
