Promises Should Be Kept

Chapter Five: Silver and The Boy (Part Three)

Chapter Five: Silver and The Boy (Part Three)

Apr 16, 2018

This time he nodded in response to my words and I smiled warmly up at him.

"That's a good boy! You're such good boy, Silver, that you're getting all of your favorite treats when we get home!" I told him as I reached for his combination halter/bridle.

My/our? hand wasn't very steady and it waved around aimlessly in the air instead of going where I wanted it to go. Silver, being the good boy that he knows how to be, took pity on me and put his nose in it's path to help me. Our(?) claws snagged on the nose piece of Silver's halter/bridle and I worked our hand over to where it connected to its cheek straps. I had just finished repeating this process with my other hand when the black beast's stomach fluid rose in my throat. I swallowed it back down before giving Silver his next command.

"Okay, Silver, it's time to start. Up!" I told him.

He obeyed me and lifted his head, pulling us halfway off of the ground.

"Good boy, Silver!" I said to him as I moved the beast's wing out of his way. "Now pull me forward and to the right!"

Again, he followed my order to the letter and not a moment too late either. As he was pulling us, the beast's stomach fluid rose in our throat again and this time, I knew I wouldn't be keeping it down. I managed to turn our head away from Silver so it wouldn't hit him before it came gushing out in a clear stream. Whether I liked it or not, the boy was coming out and he coming out NOW!

I let go of Silver's halter/bridle a moment later and got our arms underneath us before our shared body heaved again and more of the clear fluid came pouring out. I felt the boy's body shift position inside of us in preparation to come out next. I managed to take several deep breaths before the muscles in our abdomen contracted with a lot of force to push the unconscious boy's body upward and out. I felt him rise in our throat and I opened our mouth as wide as I could. The bones in our jaw automatically dislocated with an auditable pop and with very little pain for which I was thankful. Meanwhile, Silver trotted over to our feet and grabbed us by one of our ankles in preparation to pull us backwards like I had asked him to.

When the boy's head got to our mouth, I reached in and grabbed it. I pulled on him gently so I wouldn't hurt him with our claws while I helped to get his shoulders out safely pass our jaws and sharp teeth. Once the shoulders were out, the rest of him quickly followed and Silver pulled us backwards in pace with his speed.

After he was fully out, Silver stopped pulling us and dropped our ankle. Unfortunately for me, I was not any where near to being done and I got our arms under us as I continued to heave. More of the beast's stomach juice came out, this time it was accompanied by bits and pieces of shredded cloth mixed into it. I didn't have time to wonder where they had come from as heaves continued to come hard and fast. It was horrible and it felt like our stomach was trying to turn itself inside out and eject itself from our body.

Note to self: Add in a description of Silver's halter/bridle thingy somewhere.

Note to readers: I call Silver's head gear a "halter/bridle" because it serves both purposes and looks like a modified cross between the two. He is also freaking tall for a horse but only a little on the tall side for a demon horse.

"Picture a horse built like and Arabian but as big as a Draft." -- excerpt from 'From Beasts to Birds: A Look At America's Mystical Wildlife.' by Kate Barthom (And before you guys ask, yes this is the same person as the one telling the story.)

The world was supposed to end in 2012. Only it didn't......

Magic and mythological beings have return but technology still works and the world as we know it still limps on. Evil forces want the world to end but one hungry black beast and one ornery young woman aren't about to let that happen.

Thumbnail may still be changed later.

Maybe.
