“Dear God… “I said under my breath. I don’t think Ochigi even noticed the large block of ice that seemed to contain a shadow. It was a shadow so large that it took up 50% of the small corridor that we had stumbled into. It looked like a beast, shrouded in a deep black coating. Even within the darkness of the cave, I could make out the tentacles that protruded out from the sides of this… massive beasts face. God, it struck fear down my spine, I stopped breathing for a moment. My heart began to pound and just like how I felt with Kaldea the night before. I felt the same type of small. It was that same sensation of inferiority I felt washing over me as I stood next to this… thing.
“ Ochi… Ochigi. “ I said under my breath, trying to speak, but the thing before me had such a hellish pressure bearing down on me that the words seemed to be short-lived. They just wouldn’t break past my lips. They couldn’t! This thing had me all stopped up.
“ How in the hell did you guys get down here? “ Ochigi said to Diane, squatting down next to her.
“We were proceeding forward when the ground beneath us gave out. It felt like… an explosion of some kind. “Kaldea spoke while she adjusted her clothing. “ Soon securing Diane, We fell into this small placement, sliding down the slope and into what appears to be some… kind of secret compartment. Some kind of corridor.“ Kaldea said pacing around gripping tightly to her weapon as she looked up at the creature as well.
“Kaldea, Ma’am? What the hell is that thing?! “One of her soldiers exclaimed as they pointed upward towards the iced out shadow. Kaldea remained silent, she didn’t look like she wanted to respond. However judging from the expression on her face, she knew what she had been looking at.
“Soooo," I began. "We're just going to ignore… that she and her crew, your wife, survived an explosion?!" I inquired in frustration.
“Well it’s a Miracle that no one’s hurt. “ Ochigi said. “But an explosion? Like… one that was set?“ He said crossing his arms.
“I’m fine, dear. Don’t worry.“ Diane said standing up as she made her way over to the creature encased in ice. She slid her fingers across the surface while Ochigi studied the inner portions of this massively hidden corridor. They were so fucking excited over their find, I don’t think they’d realized that we had no way of getting out of here!
“This corridor! It's unbelievable! To think something like this exists and no one’s discovered it! It’s magnificent!" Ochigi said to Diane, pulling his hands upward towards the ceiling out of excitement.
“Hey, look. That’s cool and all, but I really think we should get the hell out of here.“ I said back to the rest of the gang.
“What? But we’ve finally found something after hours of searching!“ Ochigi said back to me placing his hands on his waist.
“And just what is it that we were all looking for here!? “ I said back to him, a sudden surge of panic started to well up in my chest. It burned into my throat.
“Hey, Jon? Relax. We're fine. Kaldea and her units are here. They're survival specialists. It won’t be hard for them to get us out of a situation—“ I cut Ochigi off.
“No! Fuck that man! Something… something isn’t right! We need to go. Now!" I spazzed.
Kaldea began to step backwards. Moving into the shadows of the room, I saw her out of the corner of my eye. God dammit, I saw her! She was smiling! What the hell was she smiling for?!
“You think this is some kind of game! “ I said back over to her, my voice was doubled almost as I shouted, fueled with an unknown rage. Something was wrong. Kaldea didn’t respond to me, she just simply kept her distance.
“Jon, it’s okay. Calm down. Just try to breathe. I know that thing looks scary. Whatever it is, it's in ice. It’s been gone for a long time, see? It’s probably some form of… prehistoric life. Point is, everything’s going to be fine. Just try to relax.“ Diane said attempting to step towards me. I backed away. I didn’t want her near me! I didn't want any of them near me!
“No! No get away from me! All of you people! You’re crazy, you’re all fucking crazy!“ I stepped backwards. My hands touched the iced creature's surface. As it did… I felt something deep within the pit of my stomach turn, and twist. Suddenly, the eyes of the creature that had been presumed dead... lit to life. They were red hellish eyes that glowed from the depths of the ice. Within seconds, the ice began to crack.
“What!?“ I said turning around to face what was happening.
“Jon move! “ Ochigi yelled, rushing towards me to assist.
“It’s… alive… “ I said while my heart began to beat a thousand miles a minute. BOOM! An explosion erupted so harshly that the ice went off into so many directions flying off like bullets as the massive creature was released from its prison. I hit the ground once it erupted from its hold. Turning over just in time to see Kaldea surrounded by her unit, her eyes glowing a bright purple now as she stared up at the creature.
The creature once it broke out of its icy holding, would drop to its knees. Letting out a screech so ghoulish that it caused my ears to bleed. My eyes would begin to drain with tears, flooding from my lids like a river or a broken faucet as my mind attempted to try to fathom what I’d been looking at. Tears streaming so swiftly that soon they’d turn crimson. Turning into a deep red that seemed to be continuous. The monster before us would’ve began to rip apart its chest. Its body coated in scales, and fur. It was so massive, so beastly. Something like this shouldn’t’ have existed. Once it tore apart its flesh a purple gust of air would erupt forward.
The purple mist would drape down, swiftly encompassing me in its grip. Ripping the air from my lungs as it pulled the life right out of me.
