After the instrumental music class, Liam lazily followed the students to the boys locker room to change his street clothes to the gym clothes for P. E..
Unexpectedly, the rich and noisy snob from this morning is standing beside him, placing his new looking Ogio backpack to a locker directly beside his own. Their eyes locked for a second before the two looking away in unison.
Liam did not want to seek trouble, and the guy beside him is not interested at him and grouped with his friends after changing his clothes and closing his locker.
Nothing much happened when he’s changing his clothes, but he got stared by the other male students—which annoyed him to no end—and before he even finished dressing up properly, a few peoples tried to make conversations and introducing themself at him. He expressionlessly introduce himself back and answered a few questions that’s thrown at him.
Frankly speaking, Liam is an unfriendly individual that hate to get too close to anyone except a few peoples he trusted and close to. But even thought he act unfriendly and his sharp lookin eyes oftentimes looking at peoples around him distastefully, he is the kind of person who will still make peoples stick close to him despite his indifference with his surroundings, thought some short fused boys will still try to seeks trouble with him.
After a short introduction by the coach is done, he split them to a five person per ream and let them play basketball and volley by themselves while he stood on the rear and supervising them when they played in turn.
The snobby rich kid he learned called Gabriel—that’s very unfitting with his personality—is in the same team as him, and after the first round is over, Liam acknowledged that he is very talented in basketball.
That snobby Gabriel indeed have an advantage with his height that Liam estimated reached six point one feet, he scored almost half of score for their team, second by himself. Their coordination wasn’t bad, despite it was their first time playing together, but meanwhile they were on the game, Liam would often monopolizing the ball and so very subtly ignoring Gabriel signal for him to pass the ball at him which made the latter to looked at him with the eyes that seemed sharp enough to cut through his body which of course, he ignored.
The girls that’s have been watching cheered for them and the boys were even louder when the opposing team only able to score a total of three while Liams team passed more than twenty in a short amount of time. Liam was not moved by the cheering around him and walking out to the side with his team and let the other team to play.
At the end of the course, the coach dismissing them and the others students flocking around him and also inviting him to hang out to get to know him better, but he rejected them all and change his clothes without showering first, feeling relieved that the coach didn’t care less if they showered or not since it’s the last period of school. Putting his sweat drenched clothes to a plastic bag before packing it to his backpack, he nodded to the other kids that’s waves him goodbye—excluding Gabriel and his lackey.
Just when He stepped out of the locker room, he was intercepted by the shorter boy with feverish red face that’s have been waiting for him outside the gym with his two friends that names he don’t even remember.
“Yo, Liam, have you decide what clubs you’ll be joining? If you don’t know which one yet, I got a brochures with the information about the clubs that’s available in this school for you. You can decide which one you want to join after you read it. We can also take you to go and visiting the club’s first and check them out first, if you want.”
Liam take the brochures but didn’t even looked at it before saying, “I won’t be joining any clubs.”
Garret were astounded when he heard that and said, “Huh, why is that? The club’s can add some point into your final score for graduation you know?”
“I don’t feel like it, and I have a job.”
“Oh… Is that so? That couldn’t be helped then. By the way, we didn’t have any club activities today, so do you wanna hang out? We can go to a diner or something? We don’t talked much before, so this is a great opportunity to get to know each others better. We’re friends after all,” he said cheerfully and followed by his two friends extra hard nodding.
Seeing the three expression, he only said, “I can’t. I need to go home right now.”
“This early?”
He said curtly, “My ride will be there soon.” Garret looked disappointed when he heard his words.
“Aw, man… That’s too bad. Well, we’ll be going first then, see you tomorrow!” he waves at Liam that didn’t waves back and going to the school gates with his friends.
Liam stared at them before walked alone to the school gate, leaning on the smooth brick wall. He’s tapping his feet to the ground, watching the students passing by him one by one.
As the time pass by, he couldn’t help but think that if it was in his old school, he would have been walking together with his three psychotic friends and a sense of loneliness creeps upon him before the horn of a red Chevrolet Malibu breaking his reverie.
