After what happened during the school festival, Naruto realized that his heart skipped a beat everytime he saw Sasuke. He really didn't understand what was happening to him.
During the month November, Naruto and his friends went to eat the lunch on the roof of the school. Uzumaki was still bothered by the weird sensations he had whenever he was next to Uchiha, and wanted to find answers.
"Hey guys, can I ask you something?" He asked as they were sitting on a bench.
"Yeah, of course, what is it?" Shikamaru replied.
"Um, you see... I... My heart beats weird sometimes and I don't know why..."
Shikamaru and Choji exchanged surprised looks.
"Does it happen when you're with a girl?" Shikamaru wondered.
Naruto thought about it for a minute; it couldn't admit it was when he was with Sasuke, so he said:
"Y-yeah! That's exactly it! What does it mean?"
"Naruto...it just means you like that girl... a lot!" Shikamaru explained.
Naruto stood up in a jump. "What? Really?! Are you sure?"
"Really sounds like it anyway..."
Naruto sat back down, cold sweat was running down his face.
"No way..." He whispered. His hands were shaking.
What Naruto didn't know was that Sasuke was hidden behind the wall of the roof door. He was listening to the boys' conversation with a smile on his face. He had noticed Naruto's discomfort during the past weeks and knew perfectly well what was happening.
He was happy Naruto finally became aware of his own feelings.
After classes, the 2 boys met in their private class as usual. Naruto was still shaken by the revelations he had during the lunch break and wasn't really talkative that afternoon.
"What's wrong with you today, little fox? You're awfully quiet..." Sasuke inquired.
Naruto awoke of his daydreaming; he lifted his face to look at Uchiha and grew embarrassed as his heart started to race faster.
"Not of your business!" He retorted.
"Really? I was under the impression that it concerned me on the contrary..." Sasuke said, getting closer to his pupil.
Naruto's eyes widened. He wondered if Sasuke knew...
"What do you mean...?"
"I heard you and your friends on the roof earlier..."
"You were spying on us?!" Naruto interrupted.
"No, I just happened to be there when you arrived." Sasuke clarified calmly. "Interesting conversation you had...About your heart beating faster when seeing someone."
"He knows!" Naruto thought, as fear was creeping up in his stomach.
"So did you get an answer to the mystery?" Sasuke asked, looking intensely at Naruto.
Naruto didn't flinch under the stare. "Yes..." He answered quietly.
They stared at each other for a few minutes. Naruto didn't know what to say as he was facing the man responsible of his heart acting weird.
"Uchiha, I-I think...I like you..." Uzumaki finally confessed after taking a deep breath.
Sasuke could almost feel the heat emanate from Naruto's face, now a beautiful crimson red. His own heart was beating fast. Their relationship wasn't fickle anymore, it was real!
He grabbed Naruto's hand and put it on his heart.
"I love you too, Naruto!" Sasuke confirmed. "See? My heart is beating really fast too."
Naruto could indeed feel his comrade's pulse under his hand.
"What do we do now?" He asked, really confused.
"We can start dating." Sasuke said.
"W-What?"
"You can become my boyfriend." Sasuke stated in different words.
"B-But we're 2 men...!" Naruto babbled.
"So what? I don't care! We like each other, I don't see the problem..."
Naruto kept silent, lowering his face; he was really thinking about it. He lifted his head back up and saw Sasuke's hand reaching out to him.
"So? Want to go out with me, Naruto?" Sasuke officially proposed.
With a shaking hand, Naruto took Sasuke's and squeezed it a little.
"Okay... I'll go out with you..." He accepted.
Sasuke pulled Naruto towards him and hugged him. Uzumaki hugged him back; Sasuke's warmth reassured him. Their embrace lasted for several minutes.
Finally, Sasuke broke the embrace and took Naruto's face between his hands.
"I love you!" He whispered.
He planted a light kiss on Naruto's lips. The latter responded, giving the kiss back. They went home hand in hand.
