PoV Rose
‘This is not going to be fine.’ I take back the words I thought yesterday as I look at the growing pool of blood on the kitchen table.
“—I swear it's not what it looks like!" Lily, covered in ‘blood’ and batter, explained. “It's just red food colouring. I was going to bake cupcakes but knocked it over,” he rambled as he started to clean it up.
“O-oh okay,” I finally snapped out of shock. Ironically I’m weak to gore and that stuff.
‘Well that explains the sweet scent,’ I mused.
I picked up a cloth and helped with the spill. ‘I wonder if he can eat what he bakes.’ I looked up and was about to ask when we bumped heads.
“Ow?” I yelped, as I held my head. ‘God damn vampire strength..!’
Seemingly unfazed by the collision, Lily, apologizing profusely, proceeded to check if I got hurt.
"I'm so sorry rose!" he continued, "are you alright?"
"Yeah don't worry," smiling as I proceeded to tease him, "and stop apologizing, I get it," I chuckled.
He visibly relaxed. 'was he that worried?' I pondered.
Changing the subject, I asked if he needed any help with the baking, in which, he accepted without a second thought.
After an hour, they were ready. Red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing, filled with chocolate. Just as I was tempted to just eat it all without any remorse, the earlier question came back to me.
"Lily, can you eat these?" I asked before I could stop myself. I looked up at him with a questioning gaze.
He blinked and took one. "Well, I can, contrary to popular belief," he continued to take a bite of the cupcake. "but, like everyone else, I can only eat a little or I'll get a stomach ache," he finished.
'Confirmed. Vampires can eat human food.' I made a mental note to write it down later.
