Declan’s P.O.V.
Well fuck, this isn't what I wanted. Jae is barely struggling anymore and I can see his eyes flutter to stay open. I tighten my arm around his waist making sure I have a good grip on him before he loses consciousness. I hear a single muffled word escape his lips.
“No…” And with that he falls into me completely. I take my hand off his mouth and put the rag back into my back pocket. God he is going to be out for a while. I had no intention of using this thing on him, it was more of a backup plan for one of the cops if they ended up chasing after us or something.
I lift his small limp body into my arms, one arm underneath his knees and the other holding his body close so his head doesn't dangle. I look down at his milky white face as it rests on my chest. Even for a korean the dude had some pale ass skin. I’m guessing that’s more because he probably doesn't spend much time outside as a hacker though. Most of us aren't exactly the nature types.
I start walking further into the back of the alleyway to get to my car. I see my beautiful 1967 chevy impala come into view in all its newly polished glory. Damn it, I wanted to impress him with this. The looks on peoples faces when they see my care makes me very happy.
“Couldn't you have just been grateful like a normal person?” I end up saying out loud to him as if I'm expecting him to answer. Seriously though, this kid is strange. I mean every other time I've done this they have all been incredibly grateful and felt like they owed me one all on there own. Where as this one, I think looking down at him again, was acting like I had just signed his warrant for arrest.
Then again I did just break him out of a police precinct so I guess I actually might have signed his warrant for arrest. But we’re hackers so getting rid of something like that is not a problem. Where we usually get screwed is when we’re actually found, because most of us are strong behind a computer screen but not when it comes to physical altercations. Granted I’m not included in that since with everything starting to change over the past few years I’ve had to learn to protect myself and my team.
I see the sun setting over the buildings and hope it's not as late as I think it is. I open the door to my car carefully so as not to drop him as I do. I lay him down across the conjoined leather three seater that is the front seat. I manage to get the seat belt on him but only the bottom strap and close the door. I go to my end and lift his head up and off where I'm supposed to sit and place it on my lap before starting the car.
I look down at the beautiful black haired dude. “Damn.” I say, half sighing as I do. I start the car and head in the direction of my apartment where I know I’m probably going to give a heart attack to my roommates/partners in crime when they see that I actually brought our target home.
I get to the apartment complex and take Jae out of the car, holding him the same way I had before. The sun had already set behind the buildings. The light letting me see where I’m going is coming from the purple and orange colors the sun is leaving behind in the semi clouded sky.
Once we reach the fifth floor I unlock the door to my apartment. No one's really wandering around the halls of this place during this time so I don't encounter anyone in the hall. I open the door as silently as possible, hoping that if anyone is here I can get past them quietly. I don't see any shoes in the entrance so no one is back yet.
I exhale in relief as I close the door behind me. I walk past the barely existent hall into the main room. I looked out through floor-to-ceiling windowed wall at the colors splattered across the sky. I do a once over of the apartment just to make sure there really isn't anyone here.
This apartment actually us to be two separate ones so the two sides of the room mirror each other, leaving a large space in the middle where the wall use to be. That space is now occupied by a large seven seater leather couch. I'm not much for matching colors but Lex is and so there are mostly browns, dark blues and purples around this apartment.
I walk over to the couch and lye Jae down on it gently. I sit down on the remaining space on the couch and turn on the laptop on the coffee table. As it turns on so does the sixty inch flat screen on the wall. On both monitors the home screen of Jae’s laptop is shown and a tab that I had been using to decrypt is open in the corner. I decide to continue working on it. It doesn't take me incredibly long to decode it, I mean the kid’s good but i'm better.
Once inside I see an immediately recognizable scull that seems to be almost done. Geez, why the hell was he messing with this thing? No wonder the cops were on his ass with this on here. Adding the skull was just this kid being cocky because that’s just more coding for nothing.
I ex out of his computer and open up my own. The first thing that shows up is the security camera footage freeze framed on Jea’s face as he was being walked into the precinct. I think back to earlier this morning when Lex showed me this as a potential target along with a few other people that had been caught that day. I almost fell out of my chair realizing who it was. He was definitely older now but I knew it was him.
I mean I had never meet the guy or really talked to him either, I just remember him being one of the inexperienced punks that I used to like taking down a peg when they got too cocky with their hacking. The thing that made him stand out for me though was the fact that he was the only of of those punks that not only tried to get back at me but actually succeeded. I mean I had to give it to him though, the guy is hella patient. He literally waited two years so he could get better before getting back at me. So when I saw that I not only had a chance to meet the kid but also get him indebted to me, there was no way in hell that I was going to let that chance slide.
I open another tab and start to search through the Montreal police department's database to see if they have sent out an arrest warrant for Jae. I don't find him by name but there was definitely a warrant out on him, the only things that they have to go by are his looks though. Besides I'm pretty sure that they ended up fucking up while trying to hack his computer and his laptop got fried. So essentially the only thing they have on him is that he fled while in custody. I hear my iphone ping with an alert and I take it out to look at what's on screen. I know what it means the second I see it.
‘Unknown’ is all the alert says and I know that means that there's something going on. I open another tab and click at my keyboard for a bit before I get where I'm aiming to go. I end up in a kind of hacker forum, everyone seems to be talking about raiding a new place but the usual organizer doesn't seem to be online so everyone is freaking out about how to go about it. Some are trying to get in touch with Network Ghost, and a few other big shots oh here. Lucky for them, I am Network Ghost so I figure that since the big guy isn't going to take the rains this time I might as well.
Everyone seems to calm down as soon as I make myself visible on the network and start to give instructions. A few guys seemed to still be holding out, waiting for the one who made this group to actually show up. It's not like they can go look for him so I guess they think that waiting should do it. To be honest I think the guy might actually already be online, I think he only uses his ‘Boss’ name when he has something important to say. I am a little surprised that he's not spearheading this though, I mean he is this group and he loves the raids more than a lot of people. I scroll down through all the names looking for when he last was on doing something. Then I see it.
Nameless, last online ten hours ago.
