Prince Samuel, perfect in his royal garments, stood still next to the seemingly welcoming Throne.
'I graciously extend my appreciation to those who are in attendance today. It meant a great deal to my Father, and my Brother, that this Kingdom continues to prosper. I, Lilith Evaline of King Vismeth Saccaba the Second hereby accepts loyalty of my subjects and will continue the reign of Saccaba. As surely known by all, it is tradition for the Ruler to drink from the ancient harvested wine, before sitting on the Throne for the first time. I wish nothing more than to preserve it.' Princess Lilith proclaimed, with great confidence and demeanor.
The High Priest shifted to the front of the crowd, his hand clearly wrinkled with age grasping an old chalice. 'Princess Lilith, I wish nothing more than the prosperity of this Kingdom and I pledge no other allegiance than to the Saccaba family.'
The crowd listened attentively as the High Priest resumed his bidding.
'However, Princess. I have heard of unsavory rumor on the clandestine nature of your Highness social interactions. Surely, I do not believe it for a second that our Princess is not of innocence.'
The crowd tethered, several broke into harsh murmurs as Princess Lilith gathered herself. 'What are you implying, High Priest? I do not take kindly to brash allegations.'
'I mean not to offend you, my Princess. I seek the truth just like many of your Royal subjects. This ritual itself is unforgiving, no Ruler has ever indulge in the taboo; ascending the Throne without their Chastity'.
Princess Lilith's gritted her teeth, underneath her breath was a clear scoff.
'Very well High Priest. I am sure you hold nothing but wisdom in your words. I shall ascend the Throne today, and if any of your wisdom bears truth, the ritual itself will reject my Coronation.'
Princess Lilith's words echoed in the silence stricken room. Her stature is nothing short of that of a prideful woman, ready to be Queen. Ready to show these men the error of their ways.
The High Priest nodded and raised the old Chalice towards Princess Lilith.
Velvety purple liquid swooshed around as the Chalice exchanged hands. Princess Lilith took a sip, elegantly cradling the jewel adorned Chalice in her soft hands.
'All hail Queen Lilith!' the High Priest relieved. Just as the crowd followed through with the chant and the knights begun kneeling for their new Queen, a faint sound was heard.
Princess Lilith gasped, not able to breathe as she struggled to maintained her vision. Just as easy as losing her balance, her delicate frame hit the floor. This time, hard enough to surprise everyone out of their jolly mood.
She laid still, unable to hear any of the onslaught of questions from the worried physician examining her. As she begun to lose her consciousness, she glanced at the mess of purple puddle on the floor.
'The wine. It's the wine.'
Unfortunately, neither the Physician nor anyone seemed to have heard.
The High Priest frozen in disbelief. 'Is it the Holy Angra Mainyu? Has it rejected the Queen?' His words barely left his mouth, for he knows, that the implications will be disastrous.
