Tavell had taken the day off work after it happened because he suspected that was what one was supposed to do after they found their mother dead. What one should do on that day off, however, he could not figure out.

Eventually, he grew agitated at his unproductivity, and rang a potential client to arrange to meet them the following Wednesday.

He hoped the new intern would be gone by the time he got back to the office.
