It had been a while since Nestrio heard Nkauj Ntuab’s shrill voice. She was going on about a cafe and he hadn’t been paying much attention until she mentioned that animals were allowed to run around. Nestrio was interested in seeing the pets in the cafe and wondered if they were well cared for. This is how he ended up being dragged down the street once more, as they headed to the cafe quickly. He was a bit surprised to see Zed standing outside. “Oh! You made it! It’ll just be us three today.” She chirped happily. Zarkar was brought along and shook happily at the smell of the other pets, and those that lived in the cafe. The cafe itself was quite large and spacious, Nkauj Ntuab lead them to a table and a waitstaff took their order.
Zed ordered plain coffee, while Ness ordered a pastry and tea. Nkauj Ntuab had bounced away to greet the owner and chat, leaving the two alone. “You must like animals…” Nestrio stated.
“Yeah..” He responded while focused on his phone. It ticked Nestrio off a bit at the nonchalant response of the bratty angel.
“How long will you be in town?” Nestrio tried again.
The angel didn’t look up and turned to face a different direction tossing a, “For a while.” back at the demon.
Nestrio felt his eye twitch. The behavior would be completely unacceptable in the demon world. He smirked when he saw Zarkar at the feet of the angel preparing, and snickered when Zed’s face fell in anger. Zarkar scurried away as the angel stood in anger. Nestrio thought he would blow up, but he simply set his phone down and hurried to the bathroom.
Nestrio informed the owners of the cafe about the accident, and went to the restroom to check on the angel. The things he heard the angel shouting would put the most seasoned of sailor to bed. “Are you okay?”
“Do I look okay!? That stupid creature pissed on my shoes!” The angel snapped. Nestrio didn’t think he’d ever seen any expressions other than bored and arrogant on the young face.
“He’s still a baby and learning.” Nestrio responded calmly.
“Baby my ass! You need to train that lizard!” Zed angrily retorted.
“Watch what you say chicken wings.” Nestrio became tense, getting annoyed with the angel’s reaction.
“Or what you...y-you…” Zed stuttered, clearly having trouble thinking of a comeback to the insult, becoming even more flustered with the way Nestrio looked down at him. “...you overgrown leather pouch!”
“Even your insults are childish, as expected of angels, brains as small as bird’s.” Nestrio glared down at the shorter angel.
“Well at least, at least, we get things done! We boast high power and organization!” Zed tried mocking the demon.
“Just sounds like compensating for your lack of other ‘things’.” Nestrio responded quickly, clearly experienced with this type of banter.
Zed’s face scrunched in frustration as he glared, he was having a hard time responding and his face burned. In an instant, he felt his control slip away and with a burst of power his large, magnificent white wings that made his figure glow, appeared. Nestrio was stunned for a moment at the beauty and power of the angel. The illusion was broken as the flustered angel pushed past him angrily, “You bastard!” he shouted as he rushed out of the cafe and flew off.
Nestrio didn’t feel sorry for the angel in the least. He returned to his seat and pet Zarkar, assuring him that he wasn’t at fault. He then noticed the angel had left his phone and picked it up. It didn’t have a lock, and he opened it and saw various photos of the cafe animals and Zarkar specifically. Zed hadn’t been ignoring him, just preoccupied with the number of animals. There was a photo for almost every animal in the cafe and quite a few of Zarkar. He felt just a tad bit bad for what had happened, just a bit. Nestrio left the phone with Nkauj Ntuab after explaining why the angel left.
