Moon Mi-Gyeong is the one of main character in the story. She is Jeong-Ho’s wife, becoming the Chieftess and the mother of his first child, Hyun Jae-Suk. Based on her personality, her name is spell as [문・美景] and pronounced as ‘Moon Me Gi Young’. She is a slender woman who, at the beginning of the story is 18 years of age. During the Winter Iseul, she turns 19 then two years later, when she has a baby, is 21. Mi-Gyeong has long wavy violet hair that goes just below her waist. She has sky blue eyes just like the sea near her hometown village. Mi-Gyeong is a honest person who likes to read. She is shown to like to read without disruptions but doesn't mind if someone, like Jeong-Ho, rests on her lap while she does.

Hyun Jeong-Ho is the second of main character in the story. He is Mi-Gyeong’s husband, Ji-Hu’s older adopted brother and the father of Hyun Jae-Suk. Based on his personality, his name is spell as [玄・正호] and pronounced as ‘He Yun Jee Ong Ho’. He is a well-built man who, at the beginning of the story is 20 years of age then two years later, when he is 22. Jeong-Ho has bronze eyes and long, untidy, dark crimson hair that he sometimes ties in a ponytail using a rope-like ornament with small bells on both ends. Jeong-Ho is a fearless and well-respected person who likes to travel. He is shown to nap often especially when Mi-Gyeong reads her books. He is well-respected and honored in his Tribe and some say he makes for great company even with his lack of humor. He is the strongest man in the Tribe, not person.

Hyun Ji-Hu is the younger adopted brother of Tribe Leader Hyun Jeong-Ho. He was adopted by Jeong-Ho’s parents before they passed away due to the fog virus. At the start of the story, he is 7 years old. During the story, he turns 8 and in the Epilogue is 11 years. He has ash blonde hair and brown eyes. Ji-Hu is a shy child prefers to hide his tears when his brother leaves than lets them out in front of his brother. His name is spelled [玄・지후] and is pronounced ‘He Yun Jee Wu’. Ji-Hu is a kind and rather perspective young boy. He notices that Jeong-Ho has feelings for Mi-Gyeong long before they noticed. Like Jeong-Ho, Ji-Hu feels at ease around Mi-Gyeong and has taken a liking to her.

Hyun Jae-Suk is the newborn son of Tribe Leader Hyun Jeong-Ho and Mi-Gyeong. He is the only nephew of Ji-Hu and quite resembles a mix of his parents. He has messy violet hair with dark crimson tips and blue eyes with a bronze glint. His spelled like [玄・재슈] and is pronounced ‘He Yun Jay Sook’. As the son of Jeong-Ho, Jae-Suk will become Hyun Tribe’s next Leader.
