“Bloodhound? Bloodhound do you read me?”
I couldn’t answer her. I had a gun pointed at the back of my head.
“So, you’re pretty good. You know that? Sneaking up on me like that.” I said pulling my hands up towards my head. My weapon hanging on by the strap around my neck.
“Bloodhound. I’ve heard about you. Best Tracker the KPD has to offer. They say you can track a toothpick out a storm how good you are. Didn’t they give you a job with the Raven Crusade and you turned it down? “He said, pressing the pistol into the back of my head.
“Heh, yeah and you’re Hajiame Uragiri. The Scorpion of Kasaihana city. And yeah I turned them down. But uh, speaking of them. Didn’t they say Scorpion Operatives weren’t allowed here in Kasaihana city limits?” I spat back at him. I heard him chuckle, his laughter lifted so high that it made my skin crawl.
“What the Kasaihana government doesn’t know? Won’t hurt them. I think you should be worried about who’s hurting you. “ I closed my eyes. I listened, I could almost… hear his fingers scratching backward. Lifting onto the tip of the triggers surface. Itching to lift my brain from my skull. I felt it, the heat on the back of my neck. The same kind of heat you’d feel when standing on a blacktop on a hot summer day. I could feel it burning at the back of my flesh. Telling me, screaming at me.
To move.
He fired, the bullet whizzed by my head, but not without blowing out a large chunk of my flesh! I rolled away, grabbing my busted cheek while I pulled my weapon towards him. I began to fire! He dove out of the way, rolling to safety. I too got behind cover.
“No hard feelings Bloodhound! Purple? He’s a client of mine. “He said firing back at me from around his corner only to return back to the safety of it.
“I thought Purple was with The Cartel! And you’re with the Yakuza! The hell is he your client for? You guys mixing affairs!?” I said firing back at him. He pulled behind cover again and then fired back at me once I’d stopped to reload. This went on a few times until I’d finally fired at the light above his head. Causing the surrounding area around him to go into a pitch dark. I watched him roll out of the darkness, pointing his gun where he’d thought I was. Only to find out? That’d already shifted in my placement.
I watched him, from the shadows as he looked left, to right. He was focused, like a panther. But I was clever, like a fox, and ferocious, like a dog. I leaped down from the fire escape above him. He turned around just in time but I’d already been on the move! I slammed my fist into his jaw. Disarming him and then kicking him away. Haji hit the ground, looking up at me as he watched me dismember his gun.
The Scorpion scoffed, laughing as he fixed his tactical gear. He was wearing some special ops like getup. It was all black and stealthy. Perfect for sneaking up on people and shooting them in the back. Like a coward.
“The Kagemaru is my family. But I’m still a mercenary. And a job’s a job. They're not fucking with Kagemaru Affairs. This Keeps them from getting any bright ideas on fucking with our turf. We don’t need any more in-fighting amongst the members of the Syndicate. We’re not like the common shit heads you arrest every other block. So why not help them stay on the straight and narrow?” He said crossing his arms.
“There’s nothing straight about you.” I said rolling my shoulders getting into my fighting stance.
He swung a Kick at me, I blocked it! Another kick, I weaved to the right! The last kick was a spinning one, he sprung into midair, twisting like a ball almost. Swinging his leg towards my face so fast I felt the wind creating a tunnel of cold swiftness through my hair, pushing it backwards!
I ducked under the kick, the force from the blow was so heavy that the wind damn near knocked me off my feet. Haji landed and i sent a kick of my own, with just enough speed and force!
But Haji blocked my blow. Only to catch me in mid air! I was wailed across the jaw, the superman punch knocking me into the door frame! Through gritted teeth, I turned around to see a fist barreling towards my face. I stepped back, allowing Haji’s fist to blast into the glass casing where my face had been resting on.
Crack! The glass shattered. Haji turned to face me, and what he’d gotten was a chair in the back of his head! The Wooden chair crashed across the rear of his skull so hard that it broke into pieces!
“Yeah! Watch this bitch!” I kneed Haji in the stomach so hard that he coughed blood! But the sneaky bastard headbutted me in the nose. Hitting me with a series of punches.
We exchanged in a heated fight for some time until a large explosion shifted the building we’d been on. He slammed me across the jaw when my attention was turned with a right hook. I fell into the door again, and what followed behind it was a jumping double kick! He kicked me in the door only to my surprise that what had been behind the entryway hadn’t been a room or something like that. Naw, it lead, to a fucking elevator shaft. Want to know what else? There wasn’t a fucking elevator.
I was up, what? 20 feet, maybe 15? I was up pretty high. That’s all you need to know. I soared down, staring up at that bastard. That smiling cheesecake looking shit head. He had such a shit eating grin on his face. And it made me sick. I grabbed hold to a elevator line, it was severed. It was a metal coil, thick and jagged with sharp pieces sticking along the sides. A metal rose stem it felt like. My hands burned, ripping through my leather gloves as the smoke seared out of the corners of my fingers. I grit my teeth shouting in pain as it seared through my flesh. Finally one of my arms gave out and it snapped my arm backwards. My spine pulled backward from the whiplash, SMACK. I hit the wall next, I could recall it all. How could I forget?
I hit the ground finally, falling down the last few stories. I couldn’t feel my back. It was numb and I couldn’t move. I could hear police sirens in the background. I failed, Purple got away, and Aoimi was gonna be pissed. I’m pretty sure one of us were going to get fired for this. I closed my eyes… allowing the darkness to take me. I was tired. I think I needed a nap.
