“Winner! We have another Winner!” The Announcers voice boomed. Keyome and The Dark God stood over the broken combatant who fought in the 4th round of The Gauntlet. Keyome was covered in cuts, deep slashes and gashes covered most of his body. DG seemed to had taken a beating as well. His attire was ripped and tattered, scuffs and bruises exposed over his beaten flesh.
The last two matches had been grueling. And still, not a single word had been spoken between the duo. Despite this, however, they worked in perfect unison that seemed as though they’d fought with each other for years. An unnatural amount of teamwork.
DG seemed inhuman. Possessing strength and speed far beyond that of a normal man. While Keyome had been ferocious and wild. Though calculating with every move. Together, they created a perfect synergy for the two that was never seen before. A match made in the bowels of hell. The 2nd round, they found themselves against fifteen of the Notorious Tank gang's strongest fighters that they had at their disposal. They managed to crush them like ants. the 3rd round's pro-wrestling femme fatale had gone by the name of the Honey Badger. She used wrestling techniques that left Keyome in bad shape. His boxing skills were one dimensional against her high-flying and grappling onslaught's. She'd manage to knock him out with a supplex, slamming Keyome right on the top of his head. Leaving her to face DG in a one on one bout. After a grueling battle, fighting for several minutes. The Honey Badger was no match for DG's mixed martial arts skills. Keyome at the last portions of the round, would rise up after his forced slumber. Where both fighters managed to get her into an arm-bar with both of her arms in a deep woven lock. Forcing her to tap out.
Now, at the final round. Keyome and DG face there greatest challenge thus far.
✿✿ White Space Locker Room✿✿
Keyome had been on the right side of the locker room. While DG had been on the other. Keyome had been tending to his wounds, wrapping his body up in wraps. And covering his fingers and hands in the white cloth. DG, like his rival, had been doing the same. Fixing his attire and patching up his own wounds. Not a single word had been spoken amongst the two since the first round.
This is until The Dark God allowed his next words to slip.
“Tetsu. My names Tetsu. “The brown haired male said, fixing the mask on his face. Keyome looked dumbfounded, standing up from his seat as his face scrunched up in anger.
“You idiot! Why would you tell me your real name, that’s not how these things work down here!” Keyome proclaimed.
“I don’t care. “Tetsu said crossing his arms. A smile on his face. “I forgive you. For killing that girl in round one by the way.” Tetsu said, smiling from ear to ear with that signature grin of his. Keyome’s eyes slanted while he watched Tetsu Speak. “I’ve come to the conclusion that I've made a mistake in terms of your capabilities. I mistook you. And I apologize for that.” Said the brown-haired fighter.
Keyome's face tensed. “What the hell are you getting at, what do you mean you mistook me?” His words slipping from his lips like water.
Tetsu grinned, placing his hands behind his back as he began to walk from point to point. “When they told me you were the champion of the Down Town Single Fighters Circuit. I got excited. I was hoping that I'd found someone who was as strong as me. Someone who could finally give me the fight I'd been looking for."
Tetsu paced. And Keyome kept his golden orbs on him. If looks could kill. Tetsu would've dropped dead by now. “I mistook you for a Warrior. Don't get me wrong, you’re gifted. Your probably one of the best fighters I’ve seen in the entire city almost. But…” Tetsu’s words paused, pulling his mask off of his face, exposing his brown mane. He took a step forward. “I was wrong about you. There's nothing really special about you at all. ”
Keyome’s breath went silent, his eyes shot towards the brown shaggy-haired fighter. Tetsu became the focal point of his glare. The silence went through the room like a knife through flesh. It was searing and slow. But, it would soon be broken like most things. Keyome’s words dropping from his lips. Bounded by spiteful gravity.
“What did you say... “Keyome spat.
“No offense,” Tetsu said, his arms behind his back. “I know how badly the truth can hurt. I've seen how you fight. I'm not Impressed. Your boxing is sloppy, and your stance is pretty crap too.“
Keyome would have pushed Tetsu, Tetsu staggered just a bit before he’d duck under a swinging haymaker that Keyome had been throwing.
The events almost moved in slow motion. Or rather it seemed. Keyome’s eyes, jagged and sharp like a blade had made a direct focus towards Tetsu’s green orbs. Tetsu had managed to dodge the blow, moving so quickly that it was almost beyond that of the naked eye. But Keyome still had a glare on him. His sights never left his. And his fist? Keyome’s fist was 7 inches deep in concrete.
“Ah, there it is. “ Tetsu said, crossing his arms while he nodded his head. “I was wondering if you were holding back. And now I know.” Tetsu watched as Keyome pulled his fist out of the wall.
“Are you two ready for the final round? “ A female droid said, stepping into the light of the white room. Keyome turned his back on Tetsu crossing his arms, while Tetsu placed both of his hands behind his head.
“Yup! Were all set and ready to go!” Tetsu said clapping his hands out of excitement. Keyome stared at him out of the corner of his eye before he began walking towards his corner.
“Hey, Mad Dog? “ Tetsu said, pulling his mask back on to his face. “I'd appreciate it if you use some of that strength you just showed me in the next round okay? " Tetsu said stretching. " Oh and...don’t you want to tell me your name? I told you mine after all. It’s a possibility we’ll die this round you know?” Tetsu said, his voice as cheerful as it had been. Keyome didn’t respond at first, walking towards the exit before looking back at Tetsu.
“My name… Is Keyome. “The golden eyed boy said sternly. He tilted his head upwards adjusting his mask. “And if you ever disrespect me like that again? Tetsu?” He said allowing his words to be spat from his lips like it left a bad taste in his mouth. “I’ll break every god damn rib in your body…” Keyome’s eyes flared a bright red, burning so brightly that it glowed through his mask. Tetsu stopped in his tracks, cocking a brow at the sudden shift.
“What…” The Dark God said, his lips hitched. Unable to speak at first. “I… must’ve been imagining things.” He’d reassure himself. Walking into the darkness of the entrance way to the final round.
The Final battle of the Underbelly was here. Deep in the 5th floor of The Underbelly. Tetsu and Keyome were unaware of the Kasaihana police that were behind them. Closing in on their trail. The Ace Raven Crusader Gabriel Rodriquez had been on his way. Going floor to floor, chasing down the heart of The Gauntlet. To put a stop to it once… and for all.
