"Here's our new home!" Kolt exclaimed loudly.
An hour before we came here, all my stuff was packed up outside my old apartment complex. Why? Because Kolt somehow pulled enough money to buy a new apartment. When it happened, I was ready to choke Kolt to death, but he swayed me with the promise of a cockroach free apartment.
Now here, he wasn't lying when he said it was cockroach free. The new apartment building itself was nice and clean, not like that pig stein Mr. Sanders was running. Two beds, one bath, one kitchen, and a living room--and a patio to boot--this place was looking nicer by the minute.
However, I fail to see what it had to do with my so called "training".
I held the black coin Kolt had in my hand, and looked curiously at the strange object, It had the same feel as a normal coin, but was icy cold no matter how much heat I put on to it.
"What do you think?"
I immediately kick him in the face.
Rubbing his nose he said, "A simple thank you is fine to."
"I'm tired of waiting. Explain how the hell this is gonna help me."
I hold up the coin to Kolt's face.
"Hand it here and I'll explain." he said.
I handed him the coin, and he starts to toss it in the air.
"What were about to do is turn you into a sub-Seeker." he began.
"A sub-Seeker?" I asked.
"Yep. Basically, I can't make you a full Seeker yet--or will I--but, what I can do is give you enough training to were you can control your Mana, as well as use it in battle like a Seeker." he stopped tossing the coin, and look on at it, "It take s a full year to even understand how to harness Mana."
"A YEAR!"
Kolt nods. "Yep. Buuut--"
"But what?"
"With this little item," he holds up the coin, "that process is shorten by just two days."
"Two days?"
That was some time difference. Just with that this coin, a years worth of training can be shorten to just two days. But if something like this exists, then why dose it feel like he's holding out on me.
"What's the catch?" I asked.
"Oh? So your not that dumb after all." he teased, "Well, I guess I could tell you" his face grew more serious, "There are two nasty side effects that go into this coin. One, is that it pushes the users body to its limits."
"Really?"
"Us Seekers go thru grueling training to control out Mana, and in a year, our bodies have adapted to control larger amounts of Mana. What the coin will do is force the body to go thru the same type of training, only at a much faster passe. You will experience a great deal of pain, followed by the your muscles tearing apart and healing at a rapid rate. After all that comes the final test."
"Okay. What's the final test?"
"Once your body adapts, your brain will be the next thing that grows. Not only will this coin develop your body, but will feed all the basic Seeker Mana manipulation spells to you as well. That's when it gets tricky. Because your brain is being force fed info, it may have hard time understanding it. If worse comes to worse, your brain might melt."
"M-melt."
That's some catch then.
"Yep. That's why I needed to move you out of that apartment complex. The walls here are sound proof, so no one can hear you."
Guess Kolt can think ahead. What he was telling me, was that I'm in for a world of hurt if I'm not careful. That coin could literally melt my brain if I don't adapt very fast. But what choice do I have? Kolt already got me on this crazy ride, and those Monsters are gonna end up killing me regardless. Might as well risk is.
"Okay. Let's do it." I said.
--
"Are you ready?" Kolt asked.
He had me strapped to the bed frame of one of the beds. Only my legs were free--he said he didn't feel comfortable ting me down completely.
"Sure, lets get this over with." I said.
Kolt nodded, and went to get the coin--which had been soaking in a bowl of some black liquid. He said it was to activate the coins powers or whatever. Regardless, it smelt bad.
"How this is going to work is that I'm going to place the coin on your forehead. After that, it will dissolve into you skin and thru your body. Once inside it can't be stopped, you have to fight."
"Sooooo, if I do this, I might die, but if I don't do this, then I might be eaten by some Monster?"
"Yeah, them's the brakes."
"Great!"
"Well lets get started, shall we?"
Kolt took the coin out of the bowl, and began to chant. His chanting grew louder, and started to pick up in speed. Soon, he was almost specking a whole other language, and I couldn't keep up. Now I wish I was being eaten. Kolt grasped the coin in both hands, and raised it above my head. With one last chant he slammed the coin on my head, and...nothing happen.
I stare at the coin. "Hey, what gives?" I asked.
"Sorry, there's a five second delay." Kolt apologized."
I sighed. "So...what are the odds I die?"
"75%."
"Wait? What?"
To late. The purple stone on the coin began to glow, and soon the skin on my forehead felt like it was on fire or something. A rise up in pain, trying to shake the coin off, but it wouldn't come off. I could feel it then dissolve into my skin--and somehow--I felt the dissolved coin flow into my brain.
That was when everything went black.
