"Crap," Cait mumbled under her breath as she hastily locked up her pastel green cruiser bike and sped walked into the college. She checked the time on her digital watch: 2:54 PM. She opened the doors to her college building and stood right outside the room.

She took a deep breath, trying to collect the little willpower she had left, and quietly opened the doors to the lecture hall. She saw her Professor, Dr. Payne, facing the white board; she quickly reacted and ran to an empty seat.

Thank-fucking-God, Cait thought to herself and she began loosening her red tie. Class ends in about an hour, at least she was able to make it in time to learn something.

Dr. Payne looked around the auditorium and saw Cait; Cait looked somewhere else and directed her attention to the light oak clock next to Dr. Payne.

Dr. Payne looked at the clock, then back the class.

"Let's finish today's class here," Dr. Payne said as he began grabbing papers from his desk, "and don't forget to get a partner."

Cait looked around. A partner? For what?

Half of the students left before Cait even got out of her chair. "Ms. Williams," Dr. Payne called out, "A moment?" Cait nodded, grabbed her stuff, and headed to the front of the classroom.

"Yes Sir?" Cait said nervously.

"You're late," he replied, as he began shoving his belonging into his bag.

"I'm sorry. Lunch Rush was horrible. I got here as fast as I can. I didn't even bother changing," Cait cleared her throat, "Sir."

"Look," Dr. Payne pinched the bridge of his nose, "I emailed you what the project is about, all you need is a partner," Dr. Payne put his red messenger bag on, "But. There's a way for you to get extra credit. Since I know you need it."

"What is it?"

Dr. Payne pulled out a sheet of paper he had on his desk and handed it to her. "Do the project with her."

Cait looked down at the paper.

"A. Ah. Ah-Je-ah?"

"Pronounced the same way like Ana. Anja. And, you see," Dr. Payne took a deep breath, "She never shows up to any her classes. The last time I saw her was on the first day of class, and she looked ill. So help her, help herself, be a good person, it's a win-win."

Cait looked down at the paper with her contact info; has her phone number and even her address.

"Y-yes. Thank you!" Cait slightly bowed, and excused herself. 

"I... I won't flunk this class. I don't have to repeat it. I don't have to pay more!" Cait squealed to herself as she got lost in her chain of thoughts as she walked back to her lovely bike.

Cait folded the paper into her pocket, unlocked the bike, and put the chain in her soft brown basket.

"Anja. Here I come. Whether you like it or not."
