Aiven was woken up by the sunlight piercing through the window. He groaned, silently cursing over Feíx who apparently didn't bother closing the curtains last night. He slowly opened his eyes and was met with the white ceiling of his dorm room. He used his elbows as a way to push himself up so he was sitting. But as soon as he moved even the slightest, a sharp pain shoot through his head and he was forced back to his bed with a sharp inhale.
"You're feeling it too?" Feíx' muffled voice asked. Aiven carefully turned his head and glanced over at the other. Feíx was laying with his face down in his pillow, his right hand hanging over the edge of the bed.
"What, happened?" Aiven questioned and turned his gaze back to the ceiling, the plain color was a lot easier to look at than the rest of the dorm. He attempted to reenact all of the events of the last day in his head but the horrible headache kept him from focusing.
"I don't know but I am never, Ever, going near any fucking mirror in my life" Feíx said. Mirror. Why does that sound so, familiar? Aiven thought, and with no warning came a number of pictures flashing before his eyes and he sat straight up in bed, ignoring the painful feeling in his head. The office. The weird passage behind the mirror. The letter. It was starting to come back to him.
"Feíx!" Aiven called out, a regrettable choice giving the painful imaginary hit on the back of his head. Feíx knew better and simply hummed in response as a sign that he was listening. "You received a black letter yesterday, right?" Feíx turned his head to look at Aiven with almost closed eyes and nodded slightly. Aiven flung his leg of the side of the bed and stood up, receiving another painful hit that made him stumble a little.
"Then, then you were at the office last night! Do you remember anything at all?" Feíx shook his head. "I only remember that, mirror, passage shit. And some screaming. And on that subject, please stop screaming"
"Well, if you were there that means the other's were there too" Aiven said and proceeded to take off his shirt as he realized he was still in the clothes he wore yesterday. Feíx groaned and followed Aiven with his eyes.
"Ven, we don't have any classes today, chill. And since when did you get a tattoo?" he asked and attempted to sit up, failing immediately and fell back to his pillow.
"I'm not going to cl-" Aiven stopped himself in his tracks and turned to Feíx with a raised eyebrow. "I, don't have a tattoo.."
"Yes you do" Feíx silently counted to three before standing up, grabbing his pod and walked over to the taller and snapped a photo of his neck.
"See" Feíx held his pod in front of Aiven's face. Aiven looked at the photo and just like Feíx said there was a tattoo on his neck. It was a mix of two symbols that were somewhat familiar to him, one was the same as the one that 'attacked' him down in the secret room but the other he couldn't identify. Aiven stared at the mint green screen before him. How and when did he get that? He reached behind him and gently touched the place where the tattoo was. Nothing felt off, and it didn't hurt at all.
"Do I have one?" Feíx asked and pulled up the back of his shirt, the same one he'd worn yesterday. Aiven turned around and looked at his Feíx' neck, and indeed he had one as well.
"Yes, but it's not the same as I have, this is weird. Or at least not as weird for you" Aiven said.
"Hey, it's not my birthday so it's just as weird for me!" Feíx argued and pulled down his shirt, not seeming do be bother about the fact that it was pretty dirty. Aiven rolled his eyes. "Whatever, the question here is how did we get them?"
"Maybe it got a bit wild. I mean, people were screaming" Feíx suggested and shrugged.
"Really?!" Aiven scolded.
"Come up with something better yourself!" Feíx said in defense.
Aiven shook his head. "I'll be back soon"
"Where are you going?"
"To see if any of the others remember anything" he replied and opened the door to get out, only to be dramatically stopped by the presence of a shorter girl in front of him. She was just about to know when Aiven opened the door, and his action made her jump out of surprised.
"Audra?" Aiven questioned. "What are you doin-" a glance behind her showed him that Audra wasn't the only one who'd come to visit them. The whole common room was full with familiar faces, some sitting on the couches with damped towels on resting on their faces and a few -Audra, Livíne, Zam and Yune- walking around either to knocking on the doors or handing out new towels.
"You're awake, great, um, do you need a towel?" Audra asked and slowly backed away from the door.
"Um, yeah, what are all of you doing here?" Aiven asked and walked out of his room, Feíx following after.
"Well, we figured that this would be the best place if we wanted absolute privacy" Yune explained and handed an almost dripping towel to Cassíe, who came walking out of hers and Audras dorm with death burning in her black eyes. She plodded down on the couch, head angled up to the ceiling, and placed the towel over her eyes, sighing in relief as she did so.
"What would we need privacy for?" Feíx questioned.
"To discuss the events of last night. We were all there and though we've all got a headache from hell and saints, we need to figure out what happened" Yune continued and held out another towel towards Feíx who gratefully took it and placed it over his face, muttering a "Sweet Fengari" as the coldness spread in his face.
"And the tattoos" Derin added and removed her towel. It was now dry and not at all as cold as it was when she first got it. "Which honestly is the biggest mystery as none of us remember getting them and they don't hurt at all, and the skin is pretty much untouched" she proceeded to stand up, cringing at the pain, and crossed her arms as she looked down at the others.
"And now that all thirteen of us are here, I think it's time we began"
"Agreed. Let's start from the beginning" Zam said and leaned back on the door that led into the commonroom. "Everyone of us got this letter that only had our names written on them, no sender, and they all told us to meet someone in the office. But no one was there. That's what we got so far, does anyone know what happened after that?"
The room fell into silence as the teenagers started attempting to revive some of the memories from yesterday.
"I believe there was a blackout of some sort" Livíne said.
"Yeah, and some weird mirror, thing"
"And the passage behind it"
"And then the room underground" the group continued on with adding all the pieces they remembered and tried their hardest to figure out the puzzle. Though they weren't able to complete it, as several details were missing, they still managed to get a clearer picture of whatever may have happened after the stroke of midnight. Almost everything from the moment they entered the office to the weird light attack.
"Well then, that leads only one question" Zam spoke up over the chatter, successfully quitting them down. "Who, sent the letters?"
"Are you serious?" Raión snorted. Zam furrowed his eyebrows at the strawberry blonde boy.
"Excuse me?"
"You heard what I said, do you seriously believe this 'great mystery' is that hard to figure out?" Raión questioned, not seeming to worry about a possible stare of death.
"I mean come on, you're an Alchemy student, you're having specialized code cracking, rune reading shit-whatever-lessons for fuck's sake!" he proceeded to point out as he leaned back and crossed his arms.
"What the fuck is that supposed to mean?" Zams voice dropped as the layer of frustration began to thicken.
"You can crack that one whilst I explain this, if you don't mind" Raión said and waved his hand at a now pissed Zam in a dismissive manner.
"So, let's start easy, so y'all can understand what I'm talking about" the frustration that was almost clogging up Zams mind began to lurk within the depth of the other teens.
"The letters told us to meet up in the office, and as we know, there are only a selected few who was full access to the office at all time" Raión reminded. "So, logically, we only have two suspects. The ones who have this access. the headmaster and professor Tímios. You can thank me later" he finished and grind proudly, moving his hands to rest behind his head.
"Well, I have to agree that that would be the most logical way to look at it, but I do not believe a professor of any kind would ever want to put their students through any kind of events that could potentially harm them" Livíne argued.
"Wow, big words there missy" Raión muttered as his smirk dropped into a frown.
The familiar sound that signaled a visitor waiting by the door echoed through the common room, preventing any further arguments from setting roots.
"Come in!" Feíx called out. The door slid opened and in walked a tall woman, dressed in the professor's uniforms. She didn't seem to expect all thirteen of them as her expression changed from relaxed to somewhat surprised.
"Well, that's a bit convenient" Nashira muttered to herself before clearing her throat and spoke up in a high class and stable voice. "I hope I'm not interrupting something, but the headmaster wants all of you in his office, now" she gestured with her hand for the students to stand up and follow, which they did, sharing small glances as they walked out.
The group walked out of the building and across the courtyard. It was full, just as usual, of students who were either studying or just relaxing, taking advantage of this class free day. None seemed to notice them walking behind the professor.
Nashira pushed open the doors of the academy and continued the walk through the old areas that had yet to be renovated, if they would ever be. This was known as the professors part of the academy, were their rooms as well as their small lounge was located. The clicking sound of Nashiras high heels hitting the marble floor tightened the tensity and curiosity that embraced the teens. Was Raión correct about his statement about the headmaster? Well, they would soon find out, as they had now come to a stop in front of the office door.
"Walk in and sit down" Nashira simply instructed, casting a quick glance over her shoulder to make sure all of them were present. She straightened her tie and fixed the sleeves of her blazer before she knocked five times on the door, moving her hand into a small circle with each knock.
"Come in" A voice said from behind the door almost immediately after she had placed down the fifth knock. Nashira opened it and held it open for the group to enter before her.
They did and the first thing they noticed was the four teachers standing with their arms behind their backs in front of the desk. Two being the headmaster and Etamin, and the others were Shaula and Alkaid.
"Told ya" Raón whispered with a snarky grin dressing his face. Nashira closed and locked the door before walking up to the rest of the teachers, taking her position next to Etamin. The group all did as they had been told and sat down on the couches and armchairs, glancing ever so slightly at the teachers. No one really knew what was going to happen, and if something bad was coming up, they didn't want to come off as scared. Or, most of them didn't.
Once they all sat down the headmaster's expression changed from relaxed and untouched to a warm and welcoming one.
"Welcome, Zodiacs" He simply said and the five of them bent their heads down slightly in a bow.
