There seemed no signs of life in this floor.
The lights flickered, the equipment thrown to the floor.
I looked around and saw “God has abandoned us” and “Forgive our sins” written on the walls with something red oozing down. I shocked my head, ignoring that fact I might know what that is.
Blood.
I squeezed the jacket close to my chest.
It’s as if we’re in an aftermath of a horror film.
“Sara,” Janet’s bottom lip trembled, “we need to find her.” Janet’s voice cracked towards the end.
“We will,” I agreed with her and put on my jacket, “I promise.”
The words I promise slipped out of mouth. I shouldn’t have said that. What if…. something happened to the Director?
Or to Janet. Or me. Or.
Dave.
My heart begins to ache. What if whatever is happening here, is happening back at home?
What if something happened to Dave?
We quietly walked down the hall and turned down the director’s room.
Janet opened the door and walked in ever so slightly.
No one.
The light’s were dimmed, the bed was a mess, and the window was broken and bloody.
Janet fell to her knees, dropping the flowers to dirty tile floors, and uncontrollably started sobbing.
“She’s not here, Ali,” Janet managed to say between breaths.
“Janet, get up,” I whispered as I grabbed her shoulder and looked around. There’s been small noises here and there, but the longer we’ve been here, the louder it’s getting.
“You promised,” Janet replied as she pushed her shoulder out of my reach.
“You’re right, I did. And I shouldn’t have. Now, please.”
The most intense growl conquered the room. In the corner of my eye, I saw hands appear from under the bed.
“Sara?”
